Development and Field-Testing of A Flipbook on ‘Vegetables in Diet’ for Rural Women

Development of meaningful communication material for illiterate people is a challenging task. Every year millions of rupees are being spent by government and non-government personnel on preparation and production of communication material for development of people. But it is an unpleasant truth that despite all the hard work and good intensions, the communication often fails to convey the messages or information intended. This might be due to the fact that care might not have been taken in the development of communication material. Thus, desirable development of visuals is very important. Therefore the present study was conducted with an objective to develop and field test a flipbook for rural women on ‘vegetables in diet’. The present study was conducted in two phases. In phase I the aid was developed under the guidance of experts and evaluated by twenty experts where as in phase II, developed flipbook was field tested with randomly selected thirty women of village Mehra Ka Guda of district Udaipur. The findings indicated that the developed flipbook was rated in between good to excellent category by experts and the visual perception and comprehension of flip book by respondents was rated as very good and excellent, respectively. Thus, it could be concluded that the developed flipbook on ‘Vegetables in diet’ was excellent.
