The foliar nutrition of urea, sucrose (0.5 per cent) and growth regulating chemicals, namely, alar (2500 ppm), ethrel (2000 ppm), TIBA (500 ppm) and cycocel (6000 ppm) was studied on the apical dominance through changes affected in various biochemical and hormonal balance. In leaves of Bangalora, Neelum and Mulgoa varieties, growth regulating chemicals enhanced the total phenol content, soluble protein and abscisic acid content. On the other hand, auxin and gibberellin content were significantly decreased with the application of growth regulating chemicals. Nutrients spray significantly increased the carbohydrate, nitrogen, phosphorus, auxin and gibberellin like substances, but decreased the potassium level.
