The objectives of the Lake Victoria environment monitoring were to obtain data for: (1) Determination of the present state of the lake water quality and ecosystem. (2) Analysis of the relative importance of the biological processes and limiting factors in the eutrophication of the lake. (3) Calibration of the Lake Victoria Water Quality Framework Model. (4) Long -term monitoring of changes taking place in the lake. To achieve these objectives a programme for monthly lake monitoring on the lake was established to gather data on the quality of the waters of the lake and the lake’s limnology through in-situ measurements, and laboratory analysis of samples.
