Previous research has shown that many farmers, even when conducting soil testing, do not adhere to the recommendations of experts regarding the type and number of mineral fertilizers they should apply. It is necessary to change this practice as soon as possible because optimal mineral nutrition of plants significantly reduces water consumption, which is becoming increasingly important in the context of climate change. This paper investigates the intentions of farmers to adhere to fertilization recommendations using the Theory of Planned Behavior as a theoretical framework. The theory was tested with data collected from a sample of 400 farmers in the Vojvodina Province. The results obtained show that most of the variability in intentions is explained by perceived behavioral control (16.73%), followed by attitudes (12.75%), while subjective norms explain a relatively small but statistically significant part of the variability (1.54%). The key limitations to greater adherence to recommendations are associated with the complexity of sample preparation (mainly due to land fragmentation), the distance to laboratories, lack of confidence in test results and received recommendations, as well as financial and market limitations that make implementation difficult.
