In a first step, 56 progenies are chosen for being stable on both sites on four traits, i.e. height growth, flushing date, stem sinuosity and branch angle. In a second step, two kinds of multitrait index combined selection procedures are compared (1) within-site on 122 progenies, (2) between-site on 56progenies.The group of 56 stable progenies is characterised as follow: lower heritabilities on each trait are associated with generally more favourable genetic correlations between traits; expected genetic gains, in selection compromise, are of same magnitude as within each site; number of unrelated clones which can be selected is a reduced by a 2 to 3 ratio compared to within -site selection at the same rate.
