Efecto de la chinche de los cuernos <i>Dichelops furcatus</i> (F.) sobre la calidad de la semilla de soja | Effect of the horns bug Dichelops furcatus (F.) on seed quality of soybean

La “chinche de los cuernos” Dichelops furcatus (F.) ha aumentado notablemente su abundancia relativa en relación a los demás hemípteros que atacan al cultivo de soja, llegando incluso a estar como especie dominante en los últimos años. El presente trabajo tiene por objeto evaluar el efecto de distintas densidades de D. furcatus en dos periodos reproductivos de dicho cultivo sobre parámetros de calidad de la semilla. Los tratamientos consistieron en infestaciones artificiales con adultos de D. furcatus sobre plantas de soja bajo jaulas. Se evaluaron 5 tratamientos: 0, 1, 2. 3 y 4 chinches/m. Las infestaciones se realizaron en formación de vainas (R4), y en la primera mitad de la etapa de formación de granos (R5.1 a R5.3 inclusive). Los resultados demostraron que el poder germinativo de las semillas de soja fue reducido significativamente por D. furcatus a las densidades de 2, 3 y 4 individuos por metro lineal en las etapas reproductivas R4 y R5.1 a R5.3, disminución que alcanzó un 7,4% con el mayor nivel de infestación en R5.1 a R5.3. Infestaciones a la densidad de 4 individuos por metro lineal en el periodo R5.1 a R5.3 produjeron un 9,6% de semillas dañadas, magnitud de daño superior y significativamente diferente a las registradas como consecuencia de infestaciones de 1 y 2 individuos por metro lineal. En las etapas productivas evaluadas D. furcatus, aún en la densidad de 4 chinches por metro lineal, no afectó el tamaño de las semillas.

The relative abundance of Dichelops furcatus (F.), compared to that of other hemiptera attaking soybean crops, has increased in the past few years and is now considered a pure if not dominant species. The objective of the present work was to evaluate the effect of different densities of D. furcatus in two soybean reproductive periods on seed quality parameters. Treatments were artificial infestations with adult D. furcatus on soybean plants in cages. Five treatments were evaluated: 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 bugs. Infestations were done during pod formation stage (R4) and the first half of grain formation period (R5.1 to R5.3). Results showed that soybean seed germination power decreased significantly with 2, 3 and 4 bugs per lineal meter during R4 and R5.1 to R5.3 reproductive stages. The highest level of reduction, 7,4%, occurred in R5.1 to R5.3. Infestations at a density of 4 bugs per lineal meter during R5.1 to R5.3 caused 9,6% of damaged seeds showing a higher damage magnitude and significantly different from the ones caused by 1 and 2 bugs per lineal meter. Even considering the density of 4 bugs per lineal meter, D. furcatus did not affect seed size during reproductive stages.
