Rapid integration and processing of data along with problem-solving in the field of computer science have become instrumental across various disciplines, offering the ability to save time, money, and effort. Among many of its progressions are the Progressive Web Applications (PWAS) which exemplify this efficiently by functioning independently of internet connectivity unlike traditional web apps that often require an active internet connection to function correctly. PWAS can be downloaded, installed, and use different devices like mobile phones and personal computers. The study aimed to develop a progressive web app that can be used by both banana farmers and researchers that will serve as a platform for harvest date estimation as well as a feedback system where users can give feedback regarding the accuracy of the crop growth model. Another objective is to design it as an offline PWA to ensure a wider reach of users because of cross-platform compatibility. In the banana industry, BanaTech is a PWA developed under the Smarter Approaches to Reinvigorate Agriculture as an Industry (SARAI) project to address a critical challenge faced by small-scale farmers: determining the optimal harvest time for their Lakatan and Saba/Cardaba banana bunches. Using the combined phenological characterization of Lakatan (Musa acuminata) and Saba/Cardaba (Musa acuminate x balbisiana) bananas through BBCH scale profiling and growing degree days (GDD) studies in different locations in the Philippines, BanaTech bridges the gap between research, technology, and practical applications translating reliable technical information on crop development into a decision aid tool.
