Viabilidade de sistemas agroflorestais em alto fuste e talhadia de plantas jovens de eucalipto com ciclos agrícolas estendidos | Economic feasibility of agroforestry systems managed as high forest and coppice of juvenile plants with extended agricultural cycles

Foi estudada a viabilidade econômica de dez cenários de sistemas agroflorestais (SAF’s) com dois métodos de manejo do componente arbóreo, associado com dois até cinco ciclos de culturas agrícolas e dois métodos de implantação de pastagem, visando maior periodicidade de renda nos primeiros anos de implantação do sistema. O arranjo espacial de plantio do eucalipto foi 9,5 m x 4 m (263 plantas/ha­1), com manejo em alto fuste (planta intacta ­ AF) e talhadia de plantas jovens (TPJ). A decepa das plantas ocorreu aos 12 meses e não foi realizada a desbrota. O desenho estrutural e temporal dos componentes agrícolas (arroz, milho e soja) incluiu culturas de verão e de outono­inverno, com a implantação da pastagem em sistema sequencial ou simultâneo com a cultura do milho. Os custos e produção dos componentes estruturais (arbóreo, culturas agrícolas e animais) foram obtidos em sites de entidades e publicações específicas. Foram determinados o fluxo de caixa e a análise de viabilidade econômica pelos métodos Valor Presente Líquido (VPL), Benefício (Custo) Periódico Equivalente (B(C)PE) e Taxa Interna de Retorno (TIR). O saldo total no primeiro ano aumentou em média até 24 % com a inclusão da cultura de inverno em adição à cultura tradicional de arroz no verão. Os custos de manutenção do eucalipto reduziram durante os três primeiros anos, em, aproximadamente, 30 %, para cenários de cinco ciclos agrícolas com manejo por AF e TPJ. Os cenários com quatro e cinco ciclos de culturas agrícolas, no manejo por AF, apresentaram valores elevados de VPL (R$ 2.726,00 a R$ 4.335,00), B(C)PE (R$ 560,00 a R$ 833,00) e TIR (21,65 % a 26,49 %). Porém, os maiores valores foram obtidos quando adotou­ se o consórcio simultâneo do milho com a braquiária no último ciclo agrícola. Os cenários com dois ciclos agrícolas, manejados por AF alcançaram os menores valores para VPL (R$ 2.090,00), B(C)PE (R$ 401,00) e TIR (14,88 %). Todos os cenários manejados por TPJ foram considerados inviáveis, principalmente em razão do baixo preço da madeira para energia. A maior periodicidade de renda com o aumento de ciclos agrícolas nos primeiros anos dos SAF’s pode ser a estratégia necessária à aceitação pelos produtores, pois garante sustentabilidade econômica em seus empreendimentos.

The economic feasibility was studied for ten scenarios of agroforestry systems (AGF) with two methods of management of the tree component, associated with two to five cycles of agricultural crops and two methods of pasture establishment, aiming greater income in the first years. The eucalypt planting spatial arrangement was 9.5 m x 4 m (263 plants ha ­1) with the trees managed as high forest (intact plants ­ AF) and coppice of juvenile plants (TPJ). Coppicing was performed at the age of 12 months, and there was no sprout thinning. The structural and temporal design of the agricultural components (rice, corn and soybeans) included up to five sequential summer and autumn­winter crops. Pasture was established in sequential or simultaneous system with the corn crop. The costs and the yields of the system components (arboreal, agricultural crops and animals) were obtained from specific institutions sites and publications. It was determined the cash flow and, the economic feasibility analysis considering the Net Present Value (NPV), the Equivalent Periodic Benefit (B(C)PE) and the Internal Rate of Return (IRR). The total balance in the first year increased on average by 24% when autumn­winter corn crop was planted in addition to the traditional summer rice crop. The eucalypt maintenance costs during the first three years reduced by about 30% for both tree management, for the scenarios with five crops cycle. The scenarios with four and five cycles of crops, with the AF management, reached the highest values for NPV (R$ 2.726,00 to R$ 4.335,00), B(C)PE (R$ 560,00 to R$ 833,00) and IRR (21,65 % to 26,49 %). However, the highest values were obtained with the simultaneous establishment of brachiaria with corn crop, in the last crop cycle, in the scenario with five crops. The scenarios with two agricultural cycles, in the AF management reached the lowest values for NPV (R$ 2.090,00), B(C)PE (R$ 401,00) and IRR (14,88 %). All scenarios managed by TPJ were unviable, mainly due to the low price of wood for energy. The periodicity of income with increasing agricultural cycles in the early years of the AGF may be a good strategy for the acceptance of this system by the farmers, as it ensures economic sustainability in their projects.
