Interação arranjo espacial de plantio e clones de eucalipto: crescimento e densidade de madeira por imagens digitais de raios X | Tree planting spatial arrangement and eucalyptus clones interactions: growth and density of wood by digital image X-ray

O crescimento, a distribuição de diâmetros e as densidades aparente (DA) e básica (DBM) da madeira foram avaliados para clones de eucalipto em diferentes arranjos espaciais. Os clones híbridos de Eucalyptus urophylla x Eucalyptus grandis (A, B) e de Eucalyptus urophylla x Eucalyptus globulus (C, D) foram estabelecidos em três arranjos espaciais (3,75 x 2,40 m; 6,00 x 1,50 m e 4,00 x 3,00 m). A altura (Ht) e o diâmetro (dap) foram mensurados entre 27 e 88 meses, a cada 12 meses, em 430 parcelas permanentes (418- 611 m²). As variáveis do povoamento foram estimadas pelo modelo de Gompertz. Os parâmetros da função Weibull foram correlacionados com características do povoamento no modelo de predição. No modelo de projeção, os parâmetros da distribuição de diâmetros, em idade futura (variável dependente), foram obtidos a partir desses parâmetros em idade atual (variável independente). Aos 92 meses de idade, as DA e DBM foram avaliadas no sentido radial e longitudinal do tronco a 0, 25, 50, 75 e 100% da altura comercial (diâmetro de 8 cm) e, também, a 1,3 m de altura, pelos métodos de imagens digitais de raios X (IDRX) e de imersão (I). Aos 7 anos, a altura total e o diâmetro foram maiores para o clone B no arranjo espacial 4,00 x 3,00 m. A redução da distância entre árvores na linha de plantio (6,00 x 1,50 m), ou seja, maior retangularidade, resultou em dap menor do que nos demais arranjos. O volume por árvore foi maior no arranjo 4,00 x 3,00 m para todos os clones, porém o clone B, no arranjo espacial 3,75 x 2,40 m, apresentou a maior produtividade. A idade técnica de corte variou entre 54 e 82 meses, e foi menor nos tratamentos que apresentaram maior idade de máximo incremento corrente anual. Aos 84 meses de idade, foi observado maior número de árvores nas maiores classes de diâmetro no espaçamento mais amplo (12 m2 árvore-1). O clone B apresentou a maior amplitude de distribuição de diâmetros em cada idade e o clone D apresentou a menor amplitude. A DA média a 25% da altura comercial das árvores, para os clones A, B e C foi de 0,65, 0,59 e 0,66 g cm-3, respectivamente. A DBM foi maior (p≤0,05) para o clone C (0,53 g cm-3), seguido pelos clones A (0,48 g cm-3) e B (0,45 g cm-3). A densidade básica da casca variou de 0,23 a 0,25 g cm-3. Os resultados permitem inferir que arranjos espaciais de plantio com maior retangularidade devem ser evitados, pois resultam em menor produtividade e diâmetro. A função Weibull mostrou-se adequada para descrever a distribuição de diâmetros de clones de eucalipto, em diferentes arranjos espaciais e, os modelos de projeção e predição geraram estimativas consistentes e precisas. De forma geral, a DA e a DBM apresentaram tendência de aumento no sentido base-topo e medula- casca. A IDRX se mostrou adequada para avaliar a variação da densidade entre clones e arranjo espacial, além de gerar informações qualitativas do lenho (fissuras, excentricidade da medula, podridão e anéis de coloração escura).

Growth, diameter distribution, and the wood apparent (AD) and basic (BD) densities were evaluated for the hybrid clones of Eucalyptus urophylla x Eucalyptus grandis (A, B) and Eucalyptus urophylla x Eucalyptus globulus (C, D) established in 3.75 x 2.40 m, 6.0 x 1.5 m 4.0 x 3.0 m planting arrangements. The total height (Ht) and diameter (dbh) were measured between 27 and 88 months, every 12 months, in 430 permanent plots (418-611 m²). The stand variables were estimated by the Gompertz model. The Weibull function parameters were correlated with stand characteristics in the prediction models and, in the projection model. The parameters of the diameter distribution in a future age (dependent variable) were obtained from the present age parameters (independent variable). The AD and BD were evaluated in the radial and longitudinal directions of the trunk at 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% of the commercial height, and at 1.3 m height, by the methods of digital image X-ray (IDRX) and immersion (I), at the age of 92 months. At seven years, Ht and dbh were higher for clone B in the planting arrangement 4.00 x 3.00 m. The reduction of the distance between trees in the planting line (6.00 x 1.50 m) resulted in smaller dbh in relation to the arrangement 3.75 x 2.40 m, both with 9 m2 per plant, as the result of increasing rectangularity. The volume per tree was the largest in the 4.00 x 3.00 m arrangement for all clones. Clone B showed the highest productivity in the planting arrangement of 3.75 x 2.40 m. The tree harvesting age varied between 54 and 82 months, being lower in the treatments with a greater age of maximum annual increment. The results demonstrated that the Weibull function describes the diameter distribution for eucalypt clones, in different planting arrangements. In addition, the prediction and projection models generated consistent and accurate estimates. At 84 months of age, a larger number of trees were observed in the largest diameter classes in the widest spacing (12 m² tree-1). Clone B presented the largest amplitude of the diameter distribution at each age, and clone D presented the smallest amplitude. The AD at 25% of the tree commercial height, for clones A, B, and C were 0.65, 0.59, and 0.66 g cm-3, respectively. The BD was higher (p≤0.05) for clone C (0.53 g cm-3), followed by clones A (0.48 g cm-3) and B (0.45 g cm-3). The bark basic density ranged from 0.23 to 0.25 g cm-3. The results allow inferring that the tree planting arrangements with greater rectangularity should be avoided, as they result in lower productivity and diameter. The Weibull function proved to be adequate to describe the diameter distribution of eucalypt clones in different planting arrangements. The prediction and projection models generated consistent and accurate estimates. In general, the AD and BD showed a tendency to increase in the base-top and pith-bark directions. The IDRX was adequate to evaluate the variation of density between clones and planting arrangements, besides generating qualitative information of the wood, such as fissures, pith excentricity, rot and dark colored rings.
