Influencia del IBA, SEFEL y Peróxido de Hidrógeno en el enraizamiento de estacas de tallo apical de Leucospermum 'Soleil', 'Tango' y 'Succession I'

Las Proteaceas son una familia de Angiospermas del orden Proteales que presentan un gran interés ornamental. Entre los géneros más destacados podemos citar: Leucospermum, Leucadendron y Proteas. De todos ellos, el primero es el más cultivado en las Islas Canarias. El cultivo de las Proteas está cada vez más extendido en el Archipiélago siendo Tenerife y La Palma las islas con más superficie cultivada. En los últimos años ambas islas al igual que Gran Canaria han visto aumentada su superficie de cultivo, unas 60 hectáreas en total. El método de propagación más utilizado es mediante estacas enraizadas, existiendo diferencia entre los distintos cultivares a la hora de utilizar tratamientos hormonales, sustratos de enraizamiento, condiciones ambientales, etc. que influyen de forma decisiva en la velocidad y porcentaje de enraizamiento. Uno de los estimulantes de enraizamiento habitualmente empleado es el IBA, pero recientemente se está aplicando otros como son el Peróxido de Hidrógeno y SEFEL (Sistema de Elaboración de Fertilizantes Ecológico Líquidos), siendo poco conocido el efecto en el enraizamiento, de estos últimos, en estas plantas. Por dicha razón se decidió realizar este ensayo que consiste en estudiar el comportamiento en el enraizamiento de los cultivares de Leucospermum `Soleil´, `Tango´ y `Succession I´aplicando IBA, SEFEL, H2O2 y combinaciones de estos. La propagación se realizó en un umbráculo utilizando como material vegetal estacas de tallo apical de los cultivares de Leucospermum `Soleil´, `Tango´ y `Succession I´, con una longitud de 15 cm. A la base de las estacas se les aplicó los tipos de enraizantes mencionados anteriormente y se les trató con fungicida en talco. Una vez tratadas las estacas se colocaron en bandejas de turba-poliestireno (4:6, v/v) que se enraizaron con calor de fondo (22 ± 2º C) bajo un sistema de mist. A partir de la semana 6, y hasta la semana 22 (final del ensayo), se realizaron conteos bisemanales de los porcentajes de estacas enraizadas y de la longitud de las raíces, elaborándose un índice de enraizamiento. Al final del ensayo, la combinación de estacas de `Tango´+ IBA 4000 ppm, dio el mayor porcentaje de estacas con raíces trasplantables (80,0%), seguida de la combinación de estacas de `Soleil´+ IBA 4000 ppm + H2O2 (79,7%). No existieron diferencias significativas entre los distintos tratamientos. En cuanto a la longitud de las raíces se observaron diferencias significativas respecto a la variedad. En el índice de enraizamiento se encontraron diferencias significativas entre algunos tratamientos.

The Proteaceae are a family of angiosperms from the group of Proteales which have a huge ornamental interest. Among the most important sorts we can find Leucospermum, Leucadendron and Proteas. The first one being the most cultivated in the Canary Islands. Proteas farming is becaming more extensive in the Archipelago, with Tenerife and La Palma being the ones with more farmed land. During the last few years both islands, together with Gran Canaria have increased their farming area, 60 hectares in total. The most common method of propagation is done by cuttings, although there is a difference between the different cultivars when applying hormonal treatments to stakes, rooting substrates, environmental conditions, etc. which undoubtedly influences the speed and percentage of rooting. One of the stimulants of rooting most communly used is the IBA, but recently recently other types like Hydrogen Peroxide and SEFEL (Ecological Liquid Fertilizer Elaboration System) are being used, whose effect on rooting is obscure. For that reasons it was decided to carry out this test, to check the rooting in Leucospermum’s cultivars of ‘Soleil’, ‘Tango’ and ‘Succession I’ using IBA, SEFEL, H2O2 and combinations of the three of them. The propagation was carried out in an umbraculum using apical stakes of Leucospermum, `Soleil´, `Tango´ and `Succession I´, with 15 cm of length, as plant material. To stake’s bases the aforementioned root stimulants were applied and treated with fungicide’s powder. Once the stakes were treated were placed into peatpolystyrene’s trays (4:6, v/v). The trays were then set on hot beds with a fixed temperature of 22 ± 2º C, with mist-system. From week 6º to week 22 (end of the study), counts were made every two weeks of the percentage of rooted stakes and the length of the roots, anf finally we made a rooting index. At the end of the study, the combination of stakes of `Tango´+ IBA 4000 ppm showed the best stakes percentage with transplantable roots (80.0%), followed by the combination of stakes of `Soleil´+ IBA 4000 ppm + H2O2 (79,7%). Concerning to the length of the roots, significant differences were observed with respect to the variety. There were no relevant differences between the tests. The rooting index showed relevant differences between some tests.
