Enmiendas orgánicas como alternativas de manejo en suelos afectados por salinidad en el cultivo de arroz (Oryza sativa L.)”.

Rice (Oryza sativa L.), is one of the most important and demanded crops worldwide. In Ecuador is part of the basic diet for most Ecuadorians; in addition, its production is a source of employment for many families in the areas of influence of this crop. Salinization causes negative effects on the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil. It is toxic to plants and decreases the osmotic potential of soil, causing low yields in crops such as rice. This research details the use of organic amendments as an alternative to reducing the salinity problem in peatlands, concluding that the use of organic amendments can be useful in the management of soils irrigated with saline water, as these amendments demonstrated greater nutrient absorption. Salinity management is focused on using different techniques that seek to minimize the economic and social impact, this is done with the responsible use of agrochemicals and organic products which favor sustainable agriculture. Organic amendments have positive effects on soil and because of their chemical characteristics have good potential for the remediation of sodicity.

El arroz (Oryza sativa L.), es uno de los cultivos de mayor importancia y demanda a nivel mundial. En el Ecuador esta gramínea forma parte de la alimentación básica para la mayoría de los ecuatorianos; además, su producción constituye una fuente de empleo para muchas familias de las áreas de influencia de este cultivo. La salinización causa efectos negativos sobre las propiedades físicas, químicas y biológicas del suelo. Es tóxico a las plantas y disminuye el potencial osmótico del suelo, provocando bajos rendimientos en cultivos como el arroz. En la presente investigación se detalla el uso de enmiendas orgánicas como alternativa para reducir el problema de salinidad en los suelos arroceros, llegando a la conclusión que el uso de enmiendas orgánicas puede ser útil en el manejo de suelos irrigados con aguas salinas, ya que estas enmiendas demostraron mayor absorción de nutrientes. El manejo de la salinidad está enfocado en utilizar diferentes técnicas que buscan minimizar el impacto económico y social, este se hace con el uso responsable de productos agroquímicos y orgánicos los cuales favorecen a una agricultura sustentable. Las enmiendas orgánicas poseen efectos positivos sobre el suelo y por sus características químicas poseen un buen potencial para la remediación de la sodicidad.
