Actions focused on agroenvironmental education involving local society help to elucidate and implement innovative processes and methodologies. The objective of this study is to present information about how a water remediation technology, called Irrigapote, can be used as a collective learning tool for family-based farmers. Two main steps characterized the collective learning process: (1) Technical lectures and conversations to discuss technology; (2) Field demonstration of IrrigaPote technology. 150 farmers participated in the activities of the municipality of Altônia in the Northwest of Paraná. Collective learning sensitized them to the adoption of technology as a sustainable strategy both to enable water replenishment to the soil in dry periods, and to guarantee the supply of food by family agriculture. It is concluded that the initiative to share knowledge about IrrigaPote technology motivated producers to adopt this pro-environmental behavior that contributes to the sociocultural transformation regarding the use of water resources in family-based agriculture.
