Influência da calagem e da adubação azotada e fosfatada no crescimento e na qualidade da hidrângea (Hydrangea macrophylla)

A hidrângea é uma flor ornamental com valor comercial envasada ou flor de corte. A cor das inflorescências é um dos fatores que torna as plantas desta cultura apetecíveis para o consumidor e varia devido à mobilidade e consequentemente, à disponibilidade, de alumínio provocada em parte pela reação do solo, optando-se muitas vezes pelo uso de um substrato com determinado valor de pH, de forma a conseguir controlar a cor pretendida para as flores. As plantas em vasos com substrato, nem sempre têm garantida a disponibilidade de nutrientes necessárias à planta e, para além da reação do solo, os teores de azoto e fósforo também influenciam a qualidade da flor. Com a realização deste estudo pretendeu-se entender qual a influência de fatores como a reação do solo, e do teor dos principais nutrientes (azoto e fósforo), nas características desejadas para as flores, e se existem interações entre estes fatores, na produção desta flor de corte. no solo. A cultura de hidrângea foi instalada na freguesia da Várzea do concelho de Barcelos (Portugal). O processo iniciou-se a partir de 1 planta-mãe e desta resultaram 73 plantas, de onde se retiraram mais 250 estacas que foram enraizadas em vasos de 3L. Foram selecionadas 180 plantas semelhantes para serem produzidas nas mesmas condições edafoclimáticas. As plantas selecionadas foram envasadas em vasos com a capacidade de 10 L, constituindo-se 5 blocos, cada um destes com 36 tratamentos diferentes, resultantes da estrutura fatorial de três fatores, que incluíram 4 níveis de adubação azotada, (0, 2, 4 e 6 g de N por planta) 3 níveis de adubação fosfatada (0, 1 e 2 g de P por planta) e 3 níveis de calcário (0, 20 e 40 g de CaCO3 por planta). As avaliações das características das plantas foram realizadas entre maio e julho de 2021 e incluíram medições da altura e o diâmetro da planta, as dimensões das folhas adultas, o diâmetro do caule, a cor da flor e o número de folhas. As medições foram realizadas com recurso a uma régua e um paquímetro, com resolução de um milímetro. Os tratamentos com diferentes doses N, P e CaCO3 apresentaram variações significativas para os seguintes parâmetros: crescimento da altura em que se verificou uma interação de 1ª ordem entre o P e o CaCO3; o crescimento do diâmetro da planta com uma interação de 2ª ordem (entre N, P e CaCO3); o crescimento do diâmetro do caule para o fator azoto; o aumento do número de folhas para o fator azoto e com a interação de 2ª ordem. Estas observações realizaram-se ao longo do período de 90 dias após a transplantação. Verificouse um ganho qualitativo para a flor de corte com aplicação de 2 g de azoto, traduzindo-se num ligeiro aumento na altura da haste, no diâmetro da planta e no número de folhas. Confirmou-se que o substrato continha praticamente a totalidade dos nutrientes necessários para o normal crescimento e desenvolvimento da planta, no período em que a experiência se realizou (da estacaria à floração). Para aprofundar o estudo sobre o efeito do azoto, do fósforo e da calagem nesta cultura, aconselha-se a realização de uma experiência com areia lavada em que se adicionam os restantes macronutrientes e micronutrientes necessários à planta, e o N, P e CaCO3 nas doses correspondentes aos tratamentos a ensaiar, para compreender o efeito destes fertilizantes e as respetivas interações entre os mesmos, no crescimento e desenvolvimento das plantas e na coloração das flores.

Hydrangea is an ornamental flower that can be sold as a potted plant or cut flower. The color of the inflorescences is one of the factors that make the plants of this crop attractive to the consumer and varies due to mobility and the availability of aluminum in the soil. Often opting for the use of a substrate with a certain pH value, to control the intended color for the flowers. Plants in pots with substrate have not always guaranteed the availability of nutrients and, in addition to the soil reaction, phosphorus also influence the quality of the flower. With the realization of this study, it is intended to understand the influence of factors such as soil reaction, and the content of the main nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorus), in the desired characteristics for the flowers, and if there are interactions between these factors, in the production of this cut flower. The hydrangea crop was carried out in Várzea in the area of Barcelos (Portugal). The process started with 1 mother plant, resulting in 73 plants, from which 250 cuttings were removed and rooted in 3 L pots. Later, a selection of 180 similar plants was carried out to be produced under the same soil and climate conditions. The selected plants were placed in pots with a capacity of 10 L, in 5 blocks, each with 36 different treatments, resulting from the factorial structure of three factors, which included 4 levels of nitrogen (0, 2, 4 and 6 g of N per plant) 3 levels of phosphorus (0, 1 and 2 g of P per plant) and 3 levels of limestone (0, 20 and 40 g of CaCO3 per plant). Assessments of plant characteristics were carried out between May and July 2021 and included measurements of plant height and diameter, adult leaf dimensions, stem diameter, flower color and number of leaves. Measurements were performed using a ruler and a caliper, with a resolution of one millimeter. Treatments with different rates of N, P and CaCO3 showed significant variations for the following parameters: plant height, for which there was a 1st order interaction between P and CaCO3; plant diameter for which a 2nd order interaction (between N, P and CaCO3) was found; stem diameter with differences between nitrogen levels; the increase in the number of leaves with differences between nitrogen levels and with a 2nd order interaction. These observations were carried out over the period of 90 days after transplantation. There was a qualitative gain for the cut flower with the application of 2 g of nitrogen, resulting in a slight increase in the height of the stem, in the diameter of the plant and in the number of leaves It was confirmed that the substrate contained enough nutrients for plant growth and development, during the period in which the experiment was carried out (from cuttings to flowering). Further study about the effect of nitrogen, phosphorus and liming on this crop, can be carried out through an experiment with washed sand in which the remaining macronutrients and micronutrients needed by the plant are added, and N, P and CaCO3 applied at rates to be tested, to understand the effect of these fertilizers and the respective interactions between them, on plant growth and development and on the color of the flower.
