2015
E A Onwubuya | M I Uguru
The study investigated the indigenous knowledge on processing of castor seeds among women in Oyi Loclal Government Area of Anambra State. There are indications that castor seed processing is mostly done by elderly women that have passed the child bearing age. The primary occupations of these women are farming and trading and the skill of processing appears to have been transferred from one generation to another. The process of detoxification and deallergination of castor seeds using local inputs to produce the paste, 'ogili', a condiment for seasoning food and the implications for extension work are discussed.
