A extinção do milho crioulo em Vila Manchinha, Três de Maio- RS

O presente trabalho teve como objetivo conhecer a realidade do abandono do milho crioulo nas propriedades o distrito de Manchinha, em Três de Maio/RS, assim como acompanhar ações de uma escola do campo, no interior desse município, que visam conscientizar a comunidade para a qualidade da alimentação com o cultivo do milho crioulo. O trabalho foi realizado através de entrevistas com produtores rurais de diferentes áreas e tamanho de propriedades, comparando com as informações da bibliografia disponível sobre o assunto. Através das análises das entrevistas e da revisão de literatura, buscouse disponibilizar aos produtores um maior conhecimento sobre o cultivo do milho crioulo e as causas que levam o seu abandono. O trabalho demostrou a facilidade com que os agricultores aceitam as mudanças tecnológicas oferecidas pelas empresas multinacionais, as quais condicionam os governos a criarem financiamentos para facilitar a adoção dessas novas tecnologias, fazendo com que essas avancem mais rapidamente. Por outro lado, os produtores estão cientes dos problemas envolvidos na perda da autonomia com as sementes e com os sistemas de produção, e por isso plantam o milho crioulo e outras verduras na horta, sem agrotóxico, para consumo próprio.

The present work had as objective to know the reality of the abandonment of the Creole corn in the properties of the district of Manchinha, in Três de Maio / RS, as well as to follow the actions of a school of the field, in the interior of that municipality, that aim to raise awareness to the community for the quality of food with the cultivation of Creole corn. The work was carried out through interviews with farmers of different areas and size of properties, comparing with the information of the available bibliography on the subject. Through the analysis of the interviews and the literature review, the aim was to provide producers with a better knowledge about the cultivation of Creole corn and the causes that lead to its abandonment. The work has shown the ease with which farmers accept the technological changes offered by multinational corporations, which constrain governments to create financing to facilitate the adoption of these new technologies, making them move faster. On the other hand, producers are aware of the problems involved in losing autonomy with seeds and production systems, and so they plant native corn and other vegetables in the garden, without pesticides, for their own consumption.
