Åtgärder för att minska textilsvinnet på Clarion Hotel Östersund

I den här studien utreds och analyseras textilsvinnet på Clarion Hotel Östersund. Det blir i hotellets verksamhet uppemot ett ton textilier varje år som kasseras, främst på grund av fläckar som inte går bort. Konsumtionen av textilierna leder till miljöproblem såsom sötvattenbrist och spridning av kemikalier i de områden där materialen framställs. Den här uppsatsen studerar bakomliggande faktorer till textilsvinnet och undersöker lösningar till dem. Metoden för utredningarna har varit intervjustudie med anställda på hotellet och intressenter inom textil- och tvättmedelsbranschen, samt tester av olika tvättmedel och tvättmetoder. För att minska textilsvinnet behöver hotellet genomföra en kombination av åtgärder; skapa dialog med hotellkedjan Nordic Choice Hotels om implementering av riktlinjer för textilier i miljöledningssystemet, öka andelen färgade textilier samt införa rutiner för blekning. Om hotellet, istället för att fortsätta tvätta själva, väljer att anlita tvätteriservice bör de ställa krav på uppföljning av mängden svinn från tvätteriet.

This study investigates and analyzes textile waste at Clarion Hotel Östersund. With the current routines of this hotel business, nearly one ton of textiles are disposed of every year, mainly due to stains that cannot be removed. The consumption of the textiles leads to environmental problems connected to freshwater supply and release of various toxic chemicals. This study examines the causing factors of the textile waste and investigates solutions. The investigation was conducted by interview studies with the hotel staff and stakeholders within the textile- and detergent business, as well as testing of different detergents and laundry routines. To decrease the amount of textile waste, the hotel needs to implement a combination of measures; initiate dialogue with the Nordic Choice Hotel chain about implementing guidelines concerning the textiles in the environmental management system; increase the proportion of dyed textiles and start bleaching their white textiles. If the hotel, instead of continuing to wash themselves, chooses to hire laundry services, they should demand continuous reports on the amount of textile waste generated from the laundry service company.
