Adaptación de juveniles de trucha arcoíris (Oncorhynchus mykiss) al agua de mar para desarrollar su cultivo en sistemas de recirculación acuícola | Juvenile adaptation to seawater in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) to develop culture in recirculating aquatic systems

La trucha arcoíris (Oncorhynchus mykiss), es una especie dulceacuícola, sin embargo, diversos estudios han demostrado que presenta gran tolerancia a la salinidad, por lo que se han evaluado diferentes métodos de transferencia a ambientes con diferentes concentraciones de salinidad y su efecto en la fisiología de la especie. La capacidad de la trucha para adaptarse al agua de mar permite aprovechar este potencial para diversificar su cultivo. En el presente estudio se evaluaron dos metodologías para transferir a la trucha arcoíris (O. mykiss) del agua dulce al agua de mar, y desarrollar su cultivo en sistemas de recirculación acuícola (SRA). Para conocer algunos de los mecanismos que utiliza la especie para restablecer su homeostasis durante la adaptación al agua de mar, se evaluaron algunos parámetros en los peces, tales como el crecimiento absoluto, incremento en peso, tasa de crecimiento específico y tasa de conversión alimenticia (TCA), y se determinó la presión osmótica, el índice hepatosomático (IH) y el factor de condición de Fulton (K). En total se utilizaron 600 juveniles de trucha arcoíris; 200 peces se expusieron al tratamiento gradual continuo (TGC), un segundo grupo de 200 organismos al tratamiento discontinuo abrupto (TDA), y un grupo control con 200 organismos se mantuvo en agua dulce; cada tratamiento y el grupo control se mantuvieron en sistemas de recirculación durante todo el estudio. La concentración de salinidad se incrementó en 5 UPS por día en el TGC y TDA durante 7 días, hasta llegar a las 34.4 UPS en ambos tratamientos. Durante esta fase de adaptación, la supervivencia fue del 99% en ambos tratamientos y en el grupo control. Posteriormente se realizó la fase de cultivo hasta llegar al día 74, durante esta etapa se obtuvo un 94% de supervivencia en el grupo control, 34% para el TDA y 26% en el TGC. En la evaluación de los parámetros productivos registrados durante el cultivo, la ganancia en peso fue superior significativamente (p < 0.001) en el grupo control con un 356%, a diferencia de los tratamientos experimentales que obtuvieron un 116% para el TDA y 127% en el TGC, espectivamente; no encontrando diferencias significativas. La TCA fue menor en el grupo control (0.95 ± 0.11%), a diferencia del TDA (1.68 ± 0.09%) y el TGC (3.57 ± 0.48%). The rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) is a freshwater species; however, several studies have shown that it has great tolerance to salinity, for such, different transfer methods to environments with different concentrations of salinity, and their effect on the species physiology, have been evaluated. The trout's ability to adapt to seawater allows to take advantage of this potential to diversify its culture. In the present study, two methodologies to transfer rainbow trout (O. mykiss) from freshwater to seawater were evaluated, in a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS). To know some of the mechanisms that the species uses to restore its homeostasis during adaptation to seawater, some productive parameters were evaluated in fish, such as absolute growth, weight gain, specific growth rate and feed conversion rate (FCR), and osmotic pressure, hepatosomatic index (HI) and Fulton condition factor (K) were determined. A total of 600 juvenile rainbow trout were used; 200 fish were exposed to continuous gradual treatment (CGT), a second group of 200 organisms to the abrupt discontinuous treatment (ADT), and a control group with 200 organisms were kept in fresh-water; each treatment and control group were kept in (RAS)throughout the study. The salt concentration increased 5 UPS per day in the GCT and ADT for 7 days, until reaching 34.6 UPS in both treatments. Subsequently, the culture phase was carried out until reaching day 74, during this phase a 94% survival was obtained for the control group, 34% for the ADT and 26% in the CGT. In the evaluation of the productive parameters recorded during culture, the weight gain was significantly higher (p < 0.001) in the control group with 356%, unlike the experimental treatments that obtained 116% for the ADT and 127% in the CGT, respectively; not finding significant differences. The FCR was lower in the control group (0.95 ± 0.11%), unlike the ADT (1.68 ± 0.09%) and CGT (3.57 ± 0.48%). No significant differences were found for the HI in any treatment or in the control group. The condition factor was significantly different in relation to the experimental treatments (p < 0.001).
