Findings show that net returns associated with the use of soil erosion control techniques are sufficient to offset the costs involved in implementation. All the different ways in which farmers adapted terraces, contours, and trenches yielded positive net benefits. For benefits to be sustainable, farmers will have to regularly maintain the structures and vegetation (trees and grasses). Use of soil erosion control technologies will be profitable only if the Central Bank fulfills its mandate of keeping inflation low and stable.
