Kartupeļu sīkbumbuļu audzēšana klimatkontrolētos apstākļos dažādos substrātos un aeroponikā = Cultivation of potato tubers in climate-controlled conditions in different substrates and airoponics

As the demand for food products has increased, efficient production methods are supposed to become a daily necessity, at the same time taking care of nature conservation as well as adapting to the climate change. Potatoes are extensively cultivated worldwide. Nevertheless, cultivating virus-free potato seed material in open fields is challenging in Europe due to the rapid spread of diseases. The research is currently underway at the Biotechnology Centre of Bulduru Technical University and the Stende Research Centre of the Institute of Agro-Resources and Economics to investigate the cultivation of potato tubers using climate-controlled conditions and various soilless technologies, namely aeroponics and hydroponics. Three different substrates (peat, perlite and vermiculite) were utilized in this study. The study involved the cultivation of two potato cultivars ‘Agrie Dzeltenie’ and ‘Frieslander’. The assessment of potato production was conducted, specifically focusing on the tuber number per plant and the average weight of smaller tubers. The analysis of variance reveals substantial variations in tuber yield across the substrates, as well as changes in cultivars. The average yield of small tubers for the ‘Frieslander’ variety exhibits significant variation depending on the substrate employed. Aeroponics promises a greater harvest of 25–40 small tubers per plant in contrast to the ‘Agrie Dzeltenie’ variety, where the alteration in cultivation technology had no substantial impact, resulting in 5–10 small tubers per plant. However, when cultivated with aeroponics, the tubers exhibit a reduced size. This is affected by the potential of this technology to yield several harvests throughout the plant’s growth cycle. When cultivated in the substrate, the tubers grow larger, but their quantity is reduced. Enhancing aeroponics technology will enable the acquisition of both larger and smaller tubers. Under controlled climatic circumstances, the winter season can be used for cultivation, providing an alternate approach to getting good planting material. The findings of the research contribute to the investigation of potato minituber cultivation techniques, highlighting the potential and constraints of employing aeroponics and substrates, and their influence on the yield quantity and minituber quality. [LAV] Palielinoties pārtikas produkcijas patēriņam un vienlaikus rūpējoties par dabas saglabāšanu, kā arī pielāgojoties klimata pārmaiņām, efektīvas ražošanas metodes kļūst par ikdienas nepieciešamību. Kartupeļi ir vieni no pasaulē visvairāk audzētajiem kultūraugiem. Tomēr Eiropā vīrusbrīva kartupeļu sēklas materiāla ražošana atklātā laukā ir apgrūtināta straujās slimību izplatības dēļ. Bulduru Tehnikuma Biotehnoloģiju centrā un Agroresursu un ekonomikas institūta Stendes pētniecības centrā noris pētījums par kartupeļu sīkbumbuļu audzēšanu klimatkontrolētos apstākļos ar dažādām bezaugsnes tehnoloģijām – aeroponiku un hidroponiku ar trīs substrātu (kūdras, perlīta un vermikulīta) izmantošanu. Pētījumā audzēja divas kartupeļu šķirnes – ‘Agrie Dzeltenie’ un ‘Frieslander’. Tika novērtēta kartupeļu ražību – bumbuļu skaits no auga un vidējā sīkbumbuļu masa. Dispersijas analīze apliecināja būtiskas atšķirības sīkbumbuļu ražībā dažādu izmantoto substrātu dēļ, vienlaikus norādot arī šķirņu atšķirības. Šķirnei ‘Frieslander’ vidējais izaudzēto sīkbumbuļu skaits būtiski mainās atkarībā no izmantotā substrāta. Aeroponika nodrošina augstāku ražu (25–40 sīkbumbuļi no stāda), salīdzinot ar šķirni ‘Agrie Dzeltenie’, kurai audzēšanas tehnoloģiju maiņa ražību būtiski neietekmēja, saglabājot 5–10 sīkbumbuļus no cera. Toties, audzējot aeroponikā, sīkbumbuļi ir mazāki. To ietekmē šīs tehnoloģijas iespēja novākt ražu vairākkārt augu augšanas laikā. Audzējot substrātā, sīkbumbuļi ir lielāki, bet to skaits ir mazāks. Uzlabojot aeroponikas tehnoloģiju, būs iespējams iegūt arī lielāka izmēra un daudzuma sīkbumbuļus. Klimatkontrolētos apstākļos audzēšanai var izmantot arī ziemas sezonu, tā piedāvājot alternatīvu metodi veselīga stādmateriāla iegūšanai. Iegūtie rezultāti sniedz ieguldījumu kartupeļu sīkbumbuļu audzēšanas metožu izpētē, norādot uz aeroponikas un substrātu izmantošanas iespējām un ierobežojumiem, kā arī to ietekmi uz ražas apjomu un minibumbuļu kvalitāti.
