The Ka, the Compton Ka of the Rh tube and the 14º 2o, continuum background were tested. The first-and last-named scattered radiation were found to correct the matrix effects with better standard deviations and correlation coefficients than the fit without correction. The improved functions were fitted to non-linear polynomial equations. The results suggest that the characteristic scattered radiation of the X-ray tube must be taken into account when determing certain analytes.
