The present study investigated the effect of increasing dietary vitamin D3 levels on growth performance and tibia bone measurements of male and female chicks from four layer lines differing in phylogeny and performance during 12 weeks of rearing. Results showed that increasing dietary vitamin D3 levels had no effect on performance and tibia bone measurements of male and female chicks of the four genetically diverse layer lines in the first 12 weeks of rearing. Differences were primarily depending on chicks’ age, sex and genetic background.
