Soil health is the ability of soil to function as a living ecosystem that can support plants, animals and humans. Different factors can make healthy soil more resistant to challenges such as pests and diseases. Healthy soil is more resistant to high pressure and has better water infiltration, which reduces the risk of compaction, resulting in more productive soil. When soil-borne diseases cause practical problems, there are a few measures that can help solve the problem, namely anaerobic soil disin-festation and biosolarisation. Soil plays a considerable role in the circulati-on of substances in nature, in the neutralisation of liquid and solid residues, determines the climate of localities, the chemical composition of plant and indirectly animal products. Large quantities of chemical substances inthe soil wash off the surface and partly pass into surface water sources, while another part migrates deep into the groundwater table, determining the composition of drinking and domestic water. In the same way, the quality of food products is altered, which finally influences human health.
