Kızılağaç Yaprak Böceği, Agelastica alni (L.) (Coleoptera:Chrysomelidae) Larvalarının Azot Kullanımına Bazı Kimyasal Faktörlerin Etkisi

In this study, the nitrogen utilization of Agelastica alni larvae, an oligophagous insect herbivore, was investigated in respect to the leaf chemical contentsof the some food plants such as water, nitrogen, crude fiber, phenolic compounds. The feeding experiment was carried out with A. alni larvae in a 52- dayexperiment. The water, nitrogen crude fiber and total phenolics contents of the plant samples were collected daily between June 18th and August 9th in2006 were measured accordingly. The larvae feeding experiments were carried out in June - August. Chemical analyses indicated that there were significantvariations in the nitrogen, water, crude fiber, proanthocyanidin, gallotannin and total phenolic contents of the plant samples collected. The highest totalphenolics contents were obtained in the plant samples contents collected in May; but the lowest contents were obtained in the samples collected in July.However, no feeding experiments were carried out in both months. The nitrogen contents of the plant samples were avaraged around 3.63 % during the larvalfeeding experiments. Consequently, it was found that N utilization of the larvae was negatively affected from nitrogen and crude fiber and positively affectedfrom water, but not affected from secondary metabolites content of the leaves.
