Interacción de herbicida, rastrojo, momento y cantidad de lluvia sobre el control pre-emergente de Echinochloa colona y Eleusine tristachya | Interaction of herbicide, stubble, moment and amount of rainfall on pre-emergent control of Echinochloa colona and Eleusine tristachya

Echinochloa colona (L.) Link y Eleusine tristachya (Lam.) Lamarck son malezas que ocupan gran parte del área agrícola de Argentina. Los herbicidas pre-emergentes son necesarios para el control de estas especies. Existe escasa información respecto a la interacción de un herbicida con la presencia de rastrojo, la cantidad y el momento de lluvia de incorporación. Los objetivos de este trabajo fueron i) cuantificar la eficiencia de pyroxasulfone, S-metolachlor e imazethapyr para el control pre-emergente de Echinochloa colona y Eleusine tristachya y ii) determinar el efecto del rastrojo, la cantidad de lluvia para incorporación, el momento de una lluvia para incorporación y sus interacciones, sobre el control pre-emergente de pyroxasulfone, S-metolachlor e imazethapyr. En macetas, se sembraron semillas de E. colona y E. tristachya, se aplicaron los herbicidas con y sin rastrojo de trigo en superficie, con lluvias de 5 y 20 mm y momentos de incorporación a los 5, 15 y 30 días después de aplicados. Se determinó el porcentaje de control en función del número de plantas emergidas en cada tratamiento, y su respectivo testigo. El rastrojo fue el factor principal que redujo el efecto herbicida. S-metolachlor tuvo un buen control en ambas especies, pero en E. colona redujo su acción herbicida por la interacción rastrojo y momento de incorporación. Pyroxasulfone controló satisfactoriamente E. colona y E. tristachya, aunque en ambas malezas redujo su acción por la interacción rastrojo y la cantidad de lluvia para incorporación. Imazetaphyr solo controló de manera efectiva E. colona en ausencia de rastrojo.

Echinochloa colona (L.) Link and Eleusine tristachya (Lam.) Lamarck are weeds that occupy a large part of the agricultural area of Argentina. Pre-emergent herbicides are necessary to control these species. There is little information regarding the interaction of the effect of a herbicide with the presence of stubble on the surface, the amount and timing of incorporation rain. The objectives of this work were i) quantify the efficiency of pyroxasulfone, S-metolachlor and imazethapyr for the pre-emergence control of Echinochloa colona and Eleusine tristachya and ii) determine the effect of stubble, the amount of rain for incorporation, the moment of a rain for incorporation and its interactions, on the pre-emergence control of pyroxasulfone, S-metolachlor and imazethapyr. In pots, seeds of E. colona and E. tristachya were sown, the herbicides were applied with and without wheat stubble on the surface, with rainfall of 5 and 20 mm and incorporation moments at 5, 15 and 30 days after application. The percentage of control was determined based on the number of plants emerged in each treatment, and their respective control. The stubble was the main factor that reduced the herbicide effect. S-metolachlor had good control in both species, but in E. colona it reduced its herbicidal action due to the interaction between stubble and incorporation time. Pyroxasulfone satisfactorily controlled E. colona and E. tristachya, although in both weeds it reduced its action due to the interaction of stubble and the amount of rain for incorporation. Imazetaphyr only effectively controlled E. colona in the absence of stubble.
