Sensores LiDAR e hiperespectral para a extração de parâmetros qualitativos e quantitativos na floresta ombrófila mista

Resumo: A Mata Atlântica apresenta uma rica biodiversidade, que sofre com a expansão populacional desde a chegada dos colonizadores europeus. Atualmente, apenas uma pequena parte da sua cobertura original está disponível. Na região Sul do Brasil se destaca a fitofisionomia da Floresta Ombrófila Mista e tem como espécie característica a Araucaria angustifolia. O objetivo geral desta tese foi desenvolver a caracterização do comportamento espectral da espécie Araucaria angustifolia em dados coletados por sensor hiperespectral e, ainda, testar o potencial da integração de dados LiDAR de alta densidade com dados hiperespectrais para predições de biomassa acima do solo em ambientes florestais da Floresta Ombrófila Mista. Também foi objetivo realizar uma revisão bibliométrica a respeito da biomassa da Araucaria a fim de identificar lacunas nas pesquisas com essa espécie, e utilizar dados do sensor LiDAR para a predição de índices de vegetação. A área de estudo está localizada em um fragmento de Floresta Ombrófila Mista no município de São João do Triunfo–PR. Possui 3 parcelas de 1ha e 1 de 0,5ha, sendo dividias em subparcelas de 10x10m. Foram realizados campos para a obtenção de dados de inventário florestal e dados dos sensores hiperespectrais e LiDAR. A caracterização da floresta foi realizada por meio de parâmetros fitossociológicos e índices de diversidade. A análise bibliométrica apresentou apenas dois trabalhos utilizando o sensoriamento remoto para a predição da biomassa. As espécies mais importantes na área de estudo foram a Araucaria angustifolia e a Nectandra grandiflora, com Valor de Importância percentual de 28,5% e 11%, respectivamente. A densidade total de árvores foi de 716,86 indivíduos.ha-1, e a área basal encontrada foi de 39,48 m².ha-1. A caracterização espectral mostrou que as regiões do azul, verde e borda do vermelho tiveram o mesmo comprimento de onda (400 nm, 558 nm e 744 nm, respectivamente) tanto para as reflectâncias obtidas com todos os píxeis quanto os sunlit. Já a região do Vermelho apresentou comprimento de onda de 672 nm (todos os píxeis) e 677 nm (sunlit), enquanto o NIR apresentou 869 nm quando utilizado todos os píxeis e 811 para os sunlit. Também foi constatado que não houve diferença no comportamento espectral por classe de diâmetro. O modelo selecionado para a predição da biomassa nas árvores da área de estudo apresentou um R² de 0,9572. A modelagem com os dados LiDAR teve o modelo selecionado com R² de 0,6614, enquanto a modelagem com os dados hiperespectrais apresentou R² de 0,3402 no modelo selecionado. Quando realizada a integração dos dados, o modelo com os dados LiDAR passou a ter um R² de 0,6889. Entre os 20 índices de vegetação utilizados nesses estudos, o que apresentou melhor ajuste a partir de dados LiDAR foi o PSRI (R²=0,549). Assim, concluiu-se que foi possível fazer a caracterização da Araucária com dados hiperespectrais e que não houve diferença no comportamento espectral por classes de diâmetro. A modelagem com a integração dos dados de ambos os sensores confirmou a hipótese de que haveria um aumento no R². Constatou-se ser possível realizar a modelagem de índices de vegetação a partir de métricas obtidas de nuvem de pontos Lidar.

Abstract: The Atlantic Forest has a rich biodiversity, which has suffered from population expansion since the arrival of European colonizers. Currently, only a small portion of its original coverage is available. In the southern region of Brazil, the phytophysiognomy of the Mixed Ombrophilous Forest stands out and its characteristic species is Araucaria angustifolia. The general objective of this thesis was to develop a characterization of the spectral behavior of the species Araucaria angustifolia in data collected by a hyperspectral sensor and also to test the potential for integrating high-density LiDAR data with hyperspectral data for predictions of above-ground biomass in forest environments. of the Mixed Ombrophylous Forest. The objective was also to carry out a bibliometric review regarding the biomass of Araucária in order to identify gaps in research on this species and use data from the LiDAR sensor to predict vegetation indices. The study area is located in a fragment of Mixed Ombrophylous Forest in the municipality of São João do Triunfo–PR. It has 3 plots of 1ha and 1 of 0.5ha, divided into subplots of 10x10m. Fields were carried out to obtain forest inventory data and hyperspectral and LiDAR data. The characterization of the forest was carried out using phytosociological parameters and diversity indices. The bibliometric analysis presented only two works using remote sensing to predict biomass. The most important species in the study area were Araucaria angustifolia and Nectandra grandiflora, with a percentage Importance Value of 28.5% and 11%, respectively. The total tree density was 716.86 individuals.ha-1, and the basal area found was 39.48 m².ha- 1. The spectral characterization showed that the blue, green, and red edge regions had the same wavelength (400 nm, 558 nm, and 744 nm, respectively) for both the reflectances obtained with all pixels and those illuminated by the sun. The Red region presented wavelengths of 672 nm (all pixels) and 677 nm (sunlit), while the NIR presented 869 nm when using all pixels and 811 for sunlit. It was also found that there was no difference in spectral behavior by diameter class. The model selected to predict biomass in trees in the study area presented an R² of 0.9572. Modeling with LiDAR data had the model selected with an R² of 0.6614 while modeling with hyperspectral data presented an R² of 0.3402 in the selected model. When data integration was carried out, the model with LiDAR data now had an R² of 0.6889. Among the 20 vegetation indices used in these studies, the one that presented the best fit from LiDAR data was the PSRI (R²=0.549). Thus, it was concluded that it was possible to characterize Araucaria with hyperspectral data and that there was no difference in spectral behavior by diameter classes. Modeling with the integration of data from both sensors confirmed the hypothesis that there would be an increase in R². It was possible to model vegetation indices based on statistics obtained from Lidar point clouds.
