Producción de tres híbridos de maíz bajo riego por goteo

"El maíz es el segundo grano de mayor importancia en el mundo con una producción de 868.1 millones de toneladas métricas (MMT) en el 2011 después del trigo. En México es el grano de mayor importancia por formar la base de la alimentación y economía del país ocupando un 35 % de la superficie sembrada en el 2010. La problemática del mundo actual es la escasez de alimento y falta de agua para su producción. En las zonas áridas y semiáridas de México, se enfrenta un problema grave por el agotamiento de los acuíferos y la escasez de lluvia para su recarga. En Coahuila la sobre explotación de los mantos acuíferos, el problema de salinidad y la escasez de lluvia, son actualmente los problemas mas graves en la región. Una gran cantidad de agua se destina a la agricultura el riego en la producción de alimento para ganado como alfalfa y otros forrajes los cuales se riegan mediante un sistema por gravedad, al igual que el nogal. El objetivo de la siguiente investigación fue evaluar la productividad del agua en híbridos de maíz bajo riego por goteo. El estudio se realizó en el campo experimental de la UAAAN-UL en Torreón, Coahuila, México. La evaluación se realizó en el ciclo primavera-verano 2011 bajo condiciones de riego por goteo. El diseño experimental utilizado fue un bloque al azar con arreglo en parcelas divididas y cuatro repeticiones con un total de 36 unidades experimentales. El área total fue de 540 m2 constituido por 18 surcos de 0.75 m de separación y 40 m de longitud. La siembra se realizo manualmente depositando dos semillas por golpe a una distancia de 0.20 m para obtener una iv población aproximada de 133 333 plantas por hectárea. En sistema de riego se utilizó cintilla calibre 5000, cuya distancia entre emisores de 0.20 m con un gasto de 1 l/hr a una presión de 8 psi. En la programación de riego se utilizaron los datos de evaporación registrada diariamente en el tanque evaporímetro tipo A, propiedad de la estación climatológica de la UAAAN-UL. Los tratamientos consistieron en aplicación del 100 (T1), 80 (T2) y 60 (T3) % de la ETP determinado por el método del tanque evaporímetro, y tres hibrido de maíz: Ocelote, NK1863 y 302. Las variables evaluadas fueron altura de planta (m), peso de planta (kg), materia verde (kg), peso seco (kg), longitud (m) y peso de mazorca (kg), número de hileras y peso de grano (kg), además se evaluó la eficiencia en uso de agua, materia verde (kg m-3), peso seco (kg m-3) y peso de grano (kg m-3). El hibrido Ocelote fue el que respondió mejor a las necesidades de agua para la región lagunera; tuvo buena respuesta con 60 % de ETP, con un ahorro de agua del 40 %, esto representa ahorro de agua y a la vez en economía del productor."

"Corn is the second most important grain in the world with a production of 868.1 million metric tons (MMT) in 2011 after wheat. In Mexico is the most important grain to constitute the basis of food and economy representing 35% of the area planted in 2010. Actually a problem in the world is the scarcity of food and water scarcity for their production. The arid and semiarid areas of Mexico have a serious problem by the depletion of aquifers and the scarcity of rainfall for recharge. The over exploitation of aquifers, salinity and low rainfall, are currently the most serious problems in the Coahuila. A large amount of water is used for the irrigation agriculture in the production of livestock feed as alfalfa and other forages which are irrigated by surface irrigation, as the pecan. The objective of the research was to evaluate the water productivity on corn hybrids under drip irrigation. The study was conducted at the experimental station of the UL UAAAN – UL in Torreon, Coahuila, México. The evaluation was conducted during the spring-summer 2011 under drip irrigation system. The experimental design used was a randomized block with split plot arrangement and four replications with a total of 36 experimental units. The total area was of 540 m2 constituted of 18 grooves of 0.75 m apart and 40 meters in length. The sowing was done manually depositing two seeds per hole at a distance of 0.20 m to obtain an approximate population of 133 333 plants per hectare. The irrigation system use an irrigation tape 5000, with a distance between emitters established of 0.20 m and a flow of 1 l/hr at a pressure of 8 vi psi. The irrigation scheduling applied was evaporation according data recorded daily form pan evaporation in type A, located at the climatological station UAAAN-UL. The treatments consisted of the application of 100 (T1), 80 (T2) and 60 (T3) % of the ETP determined by the tank evaporation method, and three corn hybrid: Ocelot, NK1863 and 302. The variables evaluated were plant height (m), plant weight (kg), fresh matter (kg), dry weight (kg), length (m) and corncob weight (kg), number of rows and grain weight (kg). Additionally was evaluated the water an efficiency, green matter (kg m-3), dry weight (kg m-3) and grain weight (kg m-3). The hybrid Ocelot was the one who responded to the needs of water to the Laguna area; had good response with 60% of ETP, with water saving of 40%, this respect to water saving in the producer economy."
