Development of vegetable growing and the fresh vegetable market in Russia | Развитие овощеводства и рынка свежих овощей в России

Inglés. An analysis of the Rosstat (Russian Federal State Statistics Service) data for 2019-2023, characterizing the development of the vegetable sub-sector and the national vegetable market in Russia, is carried out. The following indicators were compared for the main types of vegetables (cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, onions, table beets, potatoes): dynamics of acreage, yield and gross collections, volume of sales by agricultural organizations, average selling prices. The acreage under vegetables decreased by an average of 10%, but the yield of most crops, especially cucumbers and tomatoes cultivated in protected soil, increased significantly. It has been established that the volume of vegetable production in Russia does not fully meet the demand of the population, especially during the off-season periods. Vegetable prices are subjected to strong seasonal fluctuations. The measures contributing to the development and sustainable functioning of the vegetable market in Russia are suggested. It is advisable to expand greenhouse farms in the suburbs of megacities, make more active use of modern advances in genetics and breeding, increase the interest of market participants in innovations and investments, and expand the geographical and economic accessibility of vegetables for the population. Demand for fresh vegetables and processed products is projected to increase, so the vegetable market should be considered promising.

Ruso. Проведен анализ данных Росстата за 2019-2023 гг., характеризующих развитие овощной подотрасли и национального рынка овощей в России. Сравнивали следующие показатели по основным видам овощей (капуста, огурцы, томаты, морковь, лук репчатый, свекла столовая, картофель): динамика посевных площадей, урожайность и валовые сборы, объемы реализации с.-х. организациями, средние цены реализации. Посевные площади под овощами сократились в среднем на 10%, но урожайность большинства культур, особенно возделываемых в защищенном грунте огурцов и томатов, существенно возросла. Установлено, что объёмы производства овощей в России не полностью удовлетворяют спрос населения, особенно в межсезонные периоды. Цены на овощи подвержены сильным сезонным колебаниям. Предложены меры, способствующие развитию и устойчивому функционированию рынка овощей в России. Целесообразно расширять тепличные хозяйства в пригородах мегаполисов, активней использовать современные достижения генетики и селекции, повышать заинтересованность участников рынка в инновациях и инвестициях, расширять географическую и экономическую доступность овощей для населения. Прогнозируется увеличение спроса на свежие овощи и продукты их переработки, поэтому рынок овощей следует считать перспективным.
