Leaf morpho-anatomical features of Georgian genotypes of hazelnut (Corylus avellana L.).
2023
Some leaf parameters of 10 local genotypes of hazelnut (Corylus avellana L.) from Guria, Imereti and Tianeti regions were studied in late July and early August. The assimilation surface of the leaves of the barren branches of the studied genotypes is greater than the leaves of the fruitful branches, except for Imereti Berdznula. By this time, the growth of the fruits on the nuts was over and the flower buds were beginning to develop. All genotypes had male inflorescence the length of which did not exceed 1 cm. The petiole is covered with trichomes of three different sizes and shapes, the number and ratio of which depends on the genotype of the nut. The conducting system of the stalk is located in its central part, is fragmented, and is covered with sclerenchyma on the outside. The parameters of the leaf of the same genotype (Berdznula) (length, width, fragments of the conduction system in the middle part of the petiole) can vary on fruitful and fruitless branches, as well as depending on the geographical location, although the ratio of average values of leaf length and width in Berdznula variety is unchanged and ranges from 1.2-1.3 within the framework of; The high fragmentation of the conductive cone of Berdznula is an indicator of the tendency to xeromorphism of this variety.
