The variety of forms in citrus nucellar generation and its application prospects.

The paper indicates that numerous varieties and forms of citrus crops have been obtained as a result of the process of evolution (variation, inheritance, differentiation), adaptation to natural conditions and responsible selection. It is also explained that one of the forms of apomixis is typical for citrus - nucellar polyembryony, when one or several additional germs develop from the somatic cells of the nucellus. A special place is devoted to the explanation of the reasons for the diversity of forms in the nucellar generation of citrus. The facts are given that artificially caused (by physical or chemical reagents) diversity of forms in the nucellar generation of citrus plants increases the possibilities for increasing the spectrum of variation. Such a population is an excellent material for further selection of citrus crops. Ref. 4.
