The intensity of growth reactions of food corn at a temperature of 100С has been studied. Biologically active substances from the coniferous plant Juniperus sabina L., as well as super sweet P300 sh-2, popcorn P398 and semi-flint P402 corn seeds were used in the experiments. The laboratory germination rate of the hybrids was 87.0-89.0% and varied depending on their internal resistance to temperature stress and the influence of a bioregulator. The treatment contributed to a significant acceleration of the growth of rudimentary roots and seedlings. In the cold conditions of the water variant, the roots and seedlings lengths were lower than the control of P300 and P398, but the roots length of P402 was higher by 18.8%, and the vigor raised by 21.9%. The use of a bioregulator increased the biomass of roots and seedlings in P402, which indicates a more active manifestation of the hybrid's resistance to stressful conditions. The use of a bioregulator in the experiment led to a decrease in metabolic efficiency relative to water control by 14.5% (P300) and 17.5% (P398), and the hybrid P402 showed a significant growing of efficiency (by 28.7%). Thus, the use of biologically active substances for pre-sowing seed treatment contributed to the growth of seedlings and roots increased the metabolic efficiency of reserve substances consuming and reduced the negative effect of low temperature during seed germination. The results obtained confirmed the possibility of using the intensity of growth reactions as an integral indicator of plant metabolic activity for a comparative assessment of the stability of food corn hybrids.
