Important Problems of Urban Road Silviculture: Examples From Çanakkale City Center

In. planned developing cities, roads are the skeleton of the city. Roads establish connections between spaces, support the urban ecosystem, add aesthetic value to the city and give it an identity. However, the rapid increase in structural elements in cities causes problems in road plantation. The most important problem is that planting principles are not taken into account in road plantation and necessary maintenance is not carried out. In the study, firstly the functions of urban road trees were determined and their importance for the sustainability and social life of the urban ecosystem was revealed. The aim of the study is to determine the usage, function, aesthetic and maintenance problems seen in some road trees in Çanakkale city center. In addition to setting an example for different regions, the study aims to provide data for future studies to be carried out on Çanakkale urban roads.
