This study presents the development and testing of a smart microclimate-controlled system for strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa Duch.) propagation using different soilless media. It aimed to describe unit and features of the controlled system, assess the system performance, and evaluate the growth and development of strawberry plants on different substrates. The single-factor experiment with four blocks laid out in Random Complete Block Design (RCBD) was conducted. Factors included four different mixtures of soilless growing medium with a common ratio of 3:1 (T1-Biochar; T2-Biochar + Cocopeat; T3- Biochar + Rice Hull; T4- Biochar + Lahar). One-way ANOVA was used to evaluate the significant differences among treatment means. Further analysis was done using Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at 5% level of significance. The sensor unit continuously monitors temperature and humidity levels, employing data acquisition to make real-time adjustments for maintaining optimal conditions. The ventilation unit facilitates efficient air circulation and temperature regulation, while the growing unit integrates irrigation, drainage, and lighting systems supports the growth and development of strawberry plants. The controlled chamber maintained a relatively stable temperature range between 19.9 deg C and 20.3 deg C and a relative humidity range of 69.2% to 71.9%. These findings provide evidence of the system's optimal performance in creating a controlled microclimate for strawberry propagation. After 31 days of study period, the highest number of flowers and fruit as well as highest length and sweetness of fruit per plant was all noted in T2 with 9.05 flowers, 3.30 fruits, 2.95 cm, and 10.31 deg Brix. Regular sensor monitoring and calibration are recommended for optimal performance.
