Studies on effect of herbicide on growth, yield and nodulation of black gram (Vigna Mungo L.)

A field experiment entitled was conducted at Agronomy Research Farm of Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, Kumarganj, Faizabad (U.P.) during kharif season of 2016 with an objective to study the effect of herbicides on growth and yield of black gram. The trial was laid out in RBD with three replications of 10 number of treatments viz. Imazethapyr 70 g ha-1 PRE, Imazethapyr 80 g ha-1 PRE, Imazethapyr 70 g ha-1 POE (3-4 leaf weeds stage), Imazethapyr 80 g ha-1 POE (3-4 leaf weeds stage), Imazethapyr + imazamox (RM) 80 g ha-1 PRE, Imazethapyr + imazamox (RM) 80 g ha-1 POE (3-4 leaf weeds stage), Pendimethalin 1000 g ha-1 PRE, Metribuzin 200 g ha-1 PRE, along with hand weeding (20 & 40 DAS) and weedy check. All the growth and yield attributes viz. plant height (cm), days taken to 50% flowering, leaf area index, dry matter (g plant-1), no. of branches (plant-1), no. of nodules (plant-1), phytotoxicity effect, length of pods (cm), no. of pods (plant-1), no. of grains (pod-1), test weight, grain and straw yield, nitrogen and protein content (%) were significantly.
