The research was carried out in the garden of the Faculty of Arts in Deir Al-Zour - Al-Furat University on two ecological saplings of white willow from two different locations (Euphrates Valley - Wadi Barada)، which were planted at distances (10-20 and 30 cm) and different depths (5-10 and 15 cm). This research aims to determine the best planting distance and depth that will give the best shoot growth for these two types. The results of calculating the studied indicators showed the superiority of the Euphrates and Barada types at the level of significance (P < 0.05) when the combined effect of distance 30 cm and depth 15 cm on all treatments. In each of: the number of vegetative growths of the plant with an average of 30 and 25/plant، the number of leaves with an average of 542 and 443/plant، the flat The foliar mean was 3866.3 and 3173.3/plant/cm2، the leaf surface index was 23.90 and 20.56، respectively. The results also showed a significant decrease in the significance of the two types when the joint effect of the distance 10 cm and the depth 5 cm in each of the number of vegetative growths with an average of 17 and 9/plant، the number of leaves with an average of 305 and 173/plant، the leafy area with an average of 2489.6 and 1565.6/plant cm2، and the index of leafy area with an average 20.0985 and 13.4379، respectively. The study also showed that the Euphrates variety was the most developed compared to the Barada variety. Based on the results of the research، we recommend using a distance of 30 cm and a depth of 15 cm for the two varieties when propagating willows in Deir Ezzor governorate by cuttings and benefiting from them by afforestation.
