Capim elefante e titônia para produção de silagem na região do Alto Paraná da Argentina | Elephant grass and Titonia for silage production in the Alto Paraná region of Argentina

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar proporções de titônia (Thitonia diversifolia) na silagem de capim elefante (Cenchrus purpureus, cv Panamá), bem como os aspectos produtivos destas duas espécies forrageiras. O trabalho foi realizado em duas etapas, a primeira em junho de 2021 e uma segunda etapa entre junho de 2022 e maio de 2023. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado. O valor nutritivo da silagem foi avaliado em função de diferentes proporções de titônia na silagem de capim elefante (0, 25, 50, 75 e 100% da matéria natural) em dois anos, utilizando-se três repetições (silos experimentais/ano). A produção de forragem, a composição morfológica e a química das plantas foram realizadas em nove repetições de área (2,0 m lineares) para cada espécie, em três cortes durante 12 meses. A área experimental utilizada foi de 2.000 m2, onde foi estabelecido, no ano 2020, o consórcio de capim elefante e titônia. A área continha três faixas com três linhas de titônia. Entre as faixas de titônia havia linhas de capim elefante. O plantio da titônia foi realizado com 0,5 m entre plantas e 1,2 m entre linhas. O plantio do capim elefante foi realizado com 0,7 m entre plantas e 1,4 m entre linhas. A produção, composição morfológica e química das forrageiras ocorreu em três datas (jun/2022, dez/2022 e maio/2023). Os cortes foram realizados em estágio reprodutivo da titônia e em estágio vegetativo do capim elefante. O capim elefante apresentou (P<0,05) maior produção de forragem por corte e produção de forragem total em relação à titônia. Por sua vez, a titônia apresentou maior proporção de colmo e inflorescência, enquanto o capim elefante apresentou maior proporção de folhas. O capim elefante apresentou menor conteúdo de matéria seca e proteína bruta, pH e digestibilidade in vitro da matéria seca. Por outro lado, o capim elefante apresentou os maiores conteúdos de matéria mineral, fibra em detergente neutro e ácido. A inclusão de titônia elevou o pH e o teor de proteína bruta, e reduziu o conteúdo de matéria mineral e fibra em detergente neutro da silagem. O teor de matéria seca da silagem reduziu no segundo ano com o aumento da proporção de titônia, não sendo alterado no primeiro ano agrícola. A digestibilidade in vitro da matéria seca aumentou com a elevação da proporção de titônia na silagem. O capim elefante apresenta maior produção de forragem em relação a titônia na Região do Alto Paraná na Argentina. A titônia apresenta melhor valor nutritivo em relação de capim elefante. A elevação da proporção de titônia na silagem de capim elefante melhora o valor nutritivo da silagem.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the proportions of titonia (Tithonia diversifolia) in elephant grass (Cenchrus purpureus, cv Panama) silage, as well as the productive aspects of these two forage species. The work was carried out in two stages, the first in June 2021 and a second stage between June 2022 and May 2023. The design used was entirely randomized. The chemical composition of the silage was evaluated in function of different proportions of titonia in elephant grass silage (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% of natural matter) over two years, using three replications (experimental silos/year). Forage production, morphological and chemical composition of the plants was carried out in nine replicate areas (2.0 m linear) for each species, in three cuts. The experimental area used was 2,000 m2, where the elephant grass and titonia consortium was established in 2020. The area contained three strips with three rows of titonia. Between the titonia strips there were rows of elephant grass. The titonia was planted with 0.5 m between plants and 1.2 m between rows. Elephant grass was planted at 0.7 m between plants and 1.4 m between rows. Productive aspects were assessed on three dates (Jun/2022, Dec/2022 and May/2023). Cuts were made at the reproductive stage of titonia and at the vegetative stage of elephant grass. Elephant grass had higher forage production per cut and total forage production than titonia (P < 0.05). In turn, titonia had a higher proportion of stems and inflorescences, while elephant grass had a higher proportion of leaves. Elephant grass had lower dry matter and crude protein content, pH and in vitro dry matter digestibility. On the other hand, elephant grass had the highest contents of mineral matter, neutral and acid detergent fiber. The inclusion of titonia increased the pH and crude protein content of the silage and reduced the mineral matter and neutral detergent fiber content of the silage. The dry matter content of the silage decreased in the second year as the proportion of titanium increased, while it did not change in the first year. The in vitro digestibility of dry matter increased as the proportion of titanium in the silage rose. Elephant grass produces more forage than titony in the Alto Paraná region of Argentina. Titonia has a better nutritional value than elephant grass. Increasing the proportion of titonia in elephant grass silage improves the nutritional value of the silage.
