Biocontrol efficacy of antagonistic yeast Rhodosporidium paludigenum in combination with different concentrations of sodium bicarbonate (SBC) and sodium paraben against postharvest disease caused by Alternaria alternata in jujube (Zizyphus jujuba cv. Dongzao) was investigated. Meanwhile, the effect of SBC and sodium paraben on the capability of growth of R. paludigenum was tested. The results of in vivo and in vitro tests indicate that the combination of R. paludigenum with 0.3% NaHCO3, 0.012‰(W/V) sodium butyl paraben or sodium ethyl paraben could enhance the inhibition for jujube black rot caused by A. alternata. 0.3% NaHCO3 was the most consistent in improving biocontrol activity. In addition, the growth of R. paludigenum was not inhibited by SBC and sodium paraben in the wounds of jujube fruit. Therefore, R. paludigenum in combination with some food additives might have great potential against postharvest fungal diseases of jujube fruit.
