" Entre las acciones que pueden realizarse para tratar de incrementar la producción de forrajes con cereales de invierno, se encuentra la mezcla de éstos con leguminosas, lo cual puede representar una opción de mayor producción y calidad, sin embargo, poco se han estudiado estas mezclas. En el presente trabajo se evaluó la producción de forraje seco de mezclas binarias de avena con cebada, trigo y triticale en dos fechas de siembra, en la localidad de Navidad, Nuevo León. Los tratamientos contuvieron los genotipos sin mezclar y las mezclas con la avena a distin tas proporciones: 100:0 como monocultivo avena (donde el primer número indica el porcentaje de avena y el segundo número el porcentaje del otro cereal en la mezcla) y mezclas de 75:25, 50:50, 25:75 y cero avena: 0-100 (monocultivo del otro cereal). Se utilizó un diseño de bloques completos al azar con tres repeticiones, y se analizó la información de forraje seco, cobertura, temperatura del dosel, altura de planta e índice de vegetación diferencial normalizado (NDVI) bajo este modelo para cada fecha y, además, se realizó un análisis como parcelas divididas para el global. El análisis de varianza combinado sólo reportó significancia en la variable de forraje seco para los tratamientos. Se concluyó que los monocultivos produjeron significativamente más forraje seco que sus mezclas con avena, imponiendo ésta un efecto de competencia en la producción, pero no en el resto de variables, incluido el NDVI. La avena fue la especie menos productiva en las fechas evaluadas."

"Among the actions that can be taken to try to increase forage production with winter cereals is mixing them with legumes, which can represent an option for higher production and quality; however, these mixtures have been little studied. In this study, the dry forage production of binary mixtures of oats with barley, wheat, and triticale was evaluated on two sowing dates in the town of Navidad, Nuevo León. The treatments contained the unmixed genotypes and mixtures with oats in different proportions: 100:0 as an oat monoculture (where the first number indicates the percentage of oats and the second number the percentage of the other cereal in the mixture) and mixtures of 75:25, 50:50, 25:75, and zero oats:0-100 (monoculture of the other cereal). A randomized complete block design with three replicates was used, and data on dry forage, cover, canopy temperature, plant height, and normalized differential vegetation index (NDVI) were analyzed under this model for each date. A split-plot analysis was also performed for the overall data. The combined analysis of variance only reported significance for the dry forage variable for the treatments. It was concluded that the monocultures produced significantly more dry forage than their mixtures with oats, with the latter imposing a competitive effect on production, but not on the other variables, including NDVI. Oats were the least productive species on the dates evaluated."
