For more than a hundred years, in Tunisia, land and forestry policies of the colonial authority, then of the independent State, have conditioned the vulnerability of family farming inthe mountain areas. To illustrate this, this article provides a geohistorical analysis of the territorial dynamics in the region of jbel Bargou. It shows that the insecurity of land tenurethat persists today in this area largely determines the problems of local development.

Depuis plus de cent ans, en Tunisie, les politiques foncières et forestières de l’autorité coloniale, puis de l’État indépendant, ont conditionné la vulnérabilité de l’agriculture familiale des régions de montagne. Pour l’illustrer, cet article propose une analyse géohistorique des dynamiques territoriales dans la région du jbel Bargou. Il met en évidence que l’insécurité foncière qui perdure dans cette zone détermine en grande partie les problèmes de développement local.
