The wind storm of March the 4th - 5th 2015 | La tempesta di vento del 4-5 marzo 2015

Inglés. Impacts of climate change on natural ecosystems are increasingly evident. In terms of both increasing maximum and minimum temperatures, substantial changes in the distribution and variability of precipitation and finally with a significant increase of extreme events such as the so-called wind storms. Their frequency and intensity is increasing throughout the world but especially in Europe and in Italy with specific heavy damages. A deep thorough analysis of these phenomena is needed to understand their origins and physical characteristics, and in order to improve their prediction. This article describes the windstorm of March the 5th 2015 that hit the Tuscany Region, presenting its characteristics, its evolution and the maximum wind speed values recorded in some weather stations.

Italiano. Sono sempre più evidenti gli impatti dei cambiamenti climatici sugli ecosistemi naturali in termini di aumento della temperatura sia massima che minima, cambiamenti sostanziali nella distribuzione e variabilità delle precipitazioni ed infine un notevole incremento degli eventi estremi fra cui le cosiddette “wind storm”, tempeste di vento, la cui frequenza ed intensità è in aumento in tutto il mondo, in particolare in Europa ed in Italia con danni particolarmente ingenti. È quindi sempre più evidente la necessità di un’analisi approfondita di questi fenomeni per comprenderne le origini e le caratteristiche fisiche con l’obiettivo di migliorarne la previsione. In questo articolo viene descritta la tempesta di vento del 5 marzo 2015 che ha colpito la Regione Toscana, le sue caratteristiche, la sua evoluzione ed i valori di massima intensità di vento che ha fatto registrare in alcune stazioni meteo.
