Effect of Different Harvest Stages on The Yield and Some Forage Quality Components of Pearl Millet (Pennisetum glaucum) | Farklı Hasat Dönemlerinin İnci Darı (Pennisetum glaucum)’da Verim ve Bazı Yem Kalite Unsurlarına Etkisi

Inglés. This study was carried out to determine the effects of different harvesting stages on the forage yield and some forage quality characteristics of pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum). The research was carried out as a pot experiment in outdoor conditions at Ege University Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Field Crops, during the summer crop-growing season of 2022. Four different harvest stages (before heading, mid-heading, late heading and mid-dough ripeness) were tested in the study. The experiment was designed as factorial based on randomized complete block with four replications. In the study, some properties were measured such as plant height, dry matter (DM) yield, metabolisable energy, NDF and ADF contents. Results indicated that harvest stages had significant effect on all tested characteristics. The advancing maturity period increased DM accumulation and led to a significant decrease in forage quality parameters. It was also concluded that pearl millet should be cut at mid-heading stages for acceptable DM yield and higher quality silage.

Turco. Bu çalışma, inci darı (Pennisetum glaucum) bitkisinde, farklı hasat dönemlerinin ot verimi ve bazı yem kalite özellikleri üzerine etkisini belirlemek amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Araştırma, 2022 yılı yazlık bitki yetiştirme döneminde, Ege Üniversitesi Ziraat Fakültesi Tarla Bitkileri Bölümünde, dış ortam koşullarında saksı denemesi olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada dört değişik hasat dönemi (başaklanma öncesi, başaklanma ortası, başaklanma sonu ve tane dolum) incelenmiştir. Deney, dört tekerrürlü tesadüf parselleri deneme desenine göre tasarlanmıştır. Araştırmada bitki boyu, kuru madde (KM) verimi, silaj pH’sı, ham protein oranı, metabolik enerji, NDF ve ADF oranı gibi bazı özellikler ölçülmüştür. Sonuçlar, hasat dönemlerinin incelenen tüm özellikler üzerinde önemli etkilerinin olduğunu göstermiştir. İlerleyen olgunluk dönemi KM birikimini artırmış ve yem kalite parametrelerinde önemli bir düşüşe yol açmıştır. Kabul edilebilir KM verimi ve daha kaliteli silaj için inci darının başaklanma ortası dönemde biçilmesi gerektiği sonucuna da varılmıştır.
