ANALYSIS OF THE COST AND THE ECONOMIC FEASIBILITY OF AN INVESTMENT FOR COGENERATION IN THE SUGAR INDUSTRY | ANÁLISIS DE COSTOS Y FACTIBILIDAD ECONÓMICA DE UNA INVERSIÓN PARA COGENERAR EN LA INDUSTRIA AZUCARERA

The work presents the obtained results of the economic analysis of the investment for the assembly of a cogeneration plant in the sugar factory Melanio Hernández, that will work integrated to the sugar factory and the distillery the whole year using energetic cane as raw material when finishing the sugar season. In the work are determined the production costs of the integrated complex and financial indicators of the investment. In the development of the work are determined the cost of each product of the integrated complex, as well as Net Present Value, NPV, the Internal Rate of Return, IRR, and the Pay Back of an investment to install 23 MW of electric power in this factory. They are obtained as more important results that the investment will facilitate to obtain earnings for the sales of alcohol, sugar and electricity; on the other hand the results of the NPV, IRR and Pay Back demonstrate that the investment is feasible.

El trabajo presenta los resultados obtenidos del análisis económico de la inversión para el montaje de una planta de cogeneración en el central Melanio Hernández, la que deberá trabajar de forma integrada al central y la destilería todo el año. Como materia prima, se procesa caña energética al terminar la zafra. En el mismo se determinan los costos de producción del complejo integrado e indicadores financieros de la inversión. En el desarrollo del trabajo se determinan las fichas de costo de cada producto del complejo integrado, así como el Valor Actual Neto (VAN), la Tasa Interna de Retorno (TIR) y el Período de Recuperación (PR) de una inversión para instalar 23 MW de potencia eléctrica en este. Se obtienen como resultados más importantes que la inversión posibilitará obtener ganancias por las ventas de alcohol, azúcar y electricidad; por otra parte, los resultados del VAN, TIR y PR demuestran que la inversión es factible.
