The Importance of Knowledge and Non-Formal Education in the Formation of Human Capital

This paper highlights the importance of non-formal education in conducting business activities and ensuring the smooth functioning of business processes. The aim of this research is to determine the significance of non-formal education for employees as well as to assess the impact of companies from Užice on the non-formal education of their workforce. The subject of the study is to demonstrate the importance of non-formal education in performing job tasks. The research methods included surveys, descriptive statistical measures, and Spearman's rank correlation coefficient. Based on the obtained results, it can be concluded that employees in the analysed companies possess various certificates enabling them to perform work tasks. Further, it was concluded that state owned companies are very active in organising non-formal training for their employees. Besides state-owned companies, Wiener Städtische Insurance is also highly engaged in providing training opportunities for its employees. Additionally, based on the previous results, it was concluded that there is no correlation between the age of respondents and their engagement in non-formal education. Respondents of different age groups have completed the same levels of non-formal education.
