Evaluation of water quality for supply and irrigation in livestock | Evaluación de la calidad del agua para el abasto y el riego en la ganadería

In animal production, water is a food and as such it must be treated, given the characteristics of the prevailing cattle production systems in the country and the associated feeds, there should be an optimal quality of water, however, there is not enough information to establish these differences. Therefore, in order to evaluate the effect of the quality of water with and without magnetic treatment used for water supply and irrigation in livestock, a study is carried out on the La Victoria farm belonging to the Evelio Rodríguez CCS in the Jimaguayú municipality.   The tasks carried out for the study were the placement of a magnetizer, the taking of water samples, the evaluation of the same and the interpretation of the values obtained. The results show that the pH increases after magnetization from 7.4 to 9.3, contradictory parameters according to the different authors and the Ce values decrease so they are acceptable for supply; The results for irrigation define it as doubtful waters with which it can be irrigated with proper management. It is concluded that the discrepancies between the pH values indicate the need to design a quality standard for animal drinking water in the climatic conditions of Cuba and although the quality of water for irrigation is not the most adequate, it can be irrigated with systematic control over pH and Ce.

En la producción animal, el agua es un alimento y como tal debe tratarse, dadas las características de los sistemas productivos de la ganadería vacuna imperantes en el país y los alimentos asociados debiera haber una calidad de agua óptima, sin embargo, no hay suficiente información que permita establecer estas diferencias. Por ello, con el objetivo de evaluar el efecto de la calidad del agua con y sin tratamiento magnético empleada para el abasto de agua y el riego en la ganadería, se realiza un estudio en la finca La Victoria perteneciente a la CCS Evelio Rodríguez del municipio Jimaguayú. Las tareas llevadas a cabo para el estudio fueron la colocación de un magnetizador, la toma de muestra de agua, la evaluación de las mismas y la interpretación de los valores obtenidos. Los resultados muestran que el pH se incrementa después de la magnetización de 7,4 a 9,3, parámetros contradictorios según los diferentes autores y los valores de Ce disminuyen por lo que resultan aceptables para el abasto; los resultados para el riego la definen como aguas dudosas con las que se puede regar con un adecuado manejo. Se concluye que las discrepancias entre los valores de pH, indican la necesidad de diseñar una norma de calidad para el agua de bebida de los animales en las condiciones climáticas de Cuba y aunque la calidad de agua para el riego no es la más adecuada se puede regar teniendo un control sistemático sobre el pH y Ce.
