Knowledge and Utilization of Modern Contraceptive Methods Among Women in Coastal Areas in Agoo, La Union: Inputs for Reproductive Health Policy Enhancement

The study determined the level of knowledge and utilization of modern contraceptive methods among women in coastal areas in Agoo, La Union for the calendar year 2020-2021. The study used the quantitative-descriptive method of research. The respondents of the study were the 265 women from coastal areas in Agoo, La Union. The sample size was determined through stratified sampling and the respondents were chosen through purposive sampling. The data needed in the study was gathered through the use of a questionnaire checklist. Data were analyzed and interpreted using frequency and percentage mean. The result of the study revealed that the majority delivered in government hospitals attended by a Physician, were pregnant two times, have two living children, and got pregnant at 16-20 years of age. Generally, the respondents have fair knowledge on modern contraceptive methods and very low knowledge on bilateral tubal ligation (BTL). Further, the respondents almost all utilize modern contraceptive methods.
