High-throughput sequencing as a potential tool in the quality control of infectious bronchitis vaccines Texto completo
2024
Pasik Katarzyna | Domańska-Blicharz Katarzyna | Iwan Ewelina | Bomba Arkadiusz
In Europe, veterinary vaccines are strictly controlled by the Official Medicines Control Laboratories (OMCLs) of the General European OMCL Network, coordinated by the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare. Despite a meticulous verification programme for immunological veterinary medicinal products (IVMPs), the products’ genomic composition has not yet been subject to evaluation in veterinary pharmacy.

This article presents the fourth detection of macroscopic cystic lesions due to sarcocystosis in domestic pigs during routine meat inspection worldwide, and the first molecular detection of Sarcocystis miescheriana in a domestic pig in Poland. Pigs can become intermediate hosts for S. miescheriana by accidental ingestion of oocysts or sporocysts present in food or water contaminated by the faeces of canids (definitive hosts).

2024
Patyra Ewelina | Kwiatek Krzysztof
The article presents a rapid and simple analytical procedure for determination of four sulfonamides (sulfadiazine, sulfamerazine, sulfamethazine and sulfamethoxazole), trimethoprim, tylosin and amoxicillin in animal medicated feed.

2024
Szczotka Maria | Kuźmak Jacek
Bovine leukaemia virus (BLV) is a Deltaretrovirus responsible for enzootic bovine leukosis, the most common neoplastic disease of cattle. It deregulates the immune system, favouring secondary infections and changes in the blood and lymphatic tissues. Blood homeostasis depends on functional haematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). Bone marrow is populated by these cells, which express CD34+ and CD35+ surface antigens and produce and release cytokines involved in the maintenance of haematopoiesis. The aim of the study was determination of the profile of cytokine production by CD34+ stem cells of cattle naturally infected with BLV.

2024
Tkaczenko Halina | Lukash Oleksandr | Kurhaluk Natalia
Determination of morphological and biochemical blood indices facilitates assessment of the health and welfare of horses, their nutrient demand, the effects of training already undertaken, and the horses’ suitability for exercise. Identification of the season-dependent components and the effects of sex and exercise on changes in frequently referenced haematological and biochemical parameters was the main goal of the current study.

Since lagoviruses cannot be cultivated in vitro, using expression systems is an alternative and promising way of producing diagnostic viral antigens. It opens up their use as active immunogens for vaccine production.

Haemosporidian parasites are prevalent worldwide and can cause economic losses in poultry production. These parasites are arousing interest in Thailand and are found in many avian species. There is insufficient information on the genetic diversity of these alveolates from the largest families – Plasmodidae, Haemoprotidae and Leucocytozoidae – specifically parasitising ducks, turkeys, and geese.

2024
Śniegocki Tomasz | Samorek Elżbieta | Sell Bartosz | Krajewska Weronika
Sedatives have been used for a long time as animal tranquillisers to prevent stress and weight loss during their transportation. The proper determination of these substances in food of animal origin is essential for consumer safety.

In dairy cattle, oxidative stress is a predominant problem associated with diseases and reproductive health issues. This study aimed to detect the variation in the antioxidant biomarkers by adding different concentrations of β-hydroxybutyric acid (BHBA) and sought to elucidate its effects on the gene expression levels of growth hormone (GH) and antioxidant biomarkers in bovine hepatocytes.
