This research was done to determine the effect of increasing Humic acid application on some nutrient element contents of cress (Lepidium sativum L.) plant. For this purpose according to randomize block experimental design, an experiment was done with three replications in greenhouse conditions. Cress plant seed was sowed 1.5 g/ m2. Four humic acid doses (I. dose: 0 mL /m2, II. dose: 8 mL /m2, III. dose: 16 mL /m2 and IV. dose: 24 mL /m2) were applied to cress plant. Then cress plants were harvested 30 days after planting. Dry matter yield and some nutrient (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Fe, Cu, Zn and Mn) contents of plants were determined. According to the results, important increases some nutrient element contents of plants were determined with increasing humic acid applications. These increases were found 1. dose 5.52%, and 4. dose 6.04%, for N element, respectively. Other macro elements P (0.70%, and 0. 82%); K (6.85%, and 7.67%); Ca (1.72%, and 2.01%); Mg (0.13% and 0.15%) and S (1.04%, and 1.17%), respectively. Some micro element (Fe, Cu, Zn and Mn) contents of cress plant, 1. dose: 89.86, 9.59, 59.50 and 56.20; 4. dose: 102.17, 11.03, 67.67 and 76.63 mgkg-1, respectively. These increases were found statistically significant at the level of 5% for each nutrient element, except Mg.

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of nitrogen fertilization on the physical and physico-chemical characteristics and antioxidant potential of sapodilla at different stages of development. The experiment was installed at the Norfruit farm, located in the rural community of Pau Branco, Mossoró/RN, Brazil. A randomized block with two factorial schemes experimental design, was adopted. The first 5 x 6 with lost parcels, consisting of five doses of nitrogen (N) (0, 300, 600, 900 and 1200 g of N.plant-1) and six stages of fruit development; and the second 2 x 3 consisting of two levels of nitrogen (N) (0; 600 g of N plant-1) and three stages of development, both with five replications. The fruits were labeled with a 10 to 15 mm long mark in the plant. In fact, were harvested and analyzed after 90, 120, 150, 180 and 200 days of its marking and 208 days (fully mature, after 8 days of storage at 25 ± 2 °C and RH 58 ± 5%), respectively. The results showed a nitrogen fertilization at the dose of 600 g of N.plant-1, produced fruit with higher sugar content and fresh weight, reaching greater mass and sugar content, at 200 and 180 days of fruit development, respectively. An increase in nitrogen fertilization, promoted a reduction in the levels of yellow flavonoids and anthocyanins. Bioactive compounds (total polyphenols, vitamin C, flavonoids and anthocyanins) and sapodilla antioxidant activity decreased with the further development of fruit. The antioxidant activity of the sapodilla is more related to the high content of total polyphenols. The knowledge obtained in this study is extremely important for the sapodilla production chain due to information of the nutritional and antioxidant composition of the fruits. Kesme çiçek sektöründe, çiçeğin kalite parametrelerinin ve vazo ömrünün uzun süre korunması hem ürünün ekonomik değerini hem de satıla bilirliğini artırmak açısından önem taşımaktadır. Benzer şekilde, hasattan sonra soğanlı süs bitkilerinin toprak altı organlarının soğuklama gereksiniminin giderilmesi amacıyla depolanması aşamasında, ürünün hasat sıcaklığından depolama sıcaklığına hızlı bir şekilde getirilmesi önem arz etmektedir. Ürünün kalitesini artırırken kayıpları en aza indirmek için geçmişten günümüze pek çok yöntem geliştirilmiştir. Bu yöntemlerden biri de ön soğutma yöntemidir. Ön soğutma, ürünün hasat sıcaklığından depolama sıcaklığına hızlı ve etkin bir şekilde düşürülmesi olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Ön soğutma, hem ürünün hasat sonrası soğuk depoya konulması hem de depolama yapılmaksızın doğrudan satışa çıkarılması durumlarında, ürünün dayanım süresini ve kalite parametrelerini artırmak için kullanılabilmektedir. Uygulandığı tarımsal ürünlerin yapısal ve fizyolojik özelliklerine bağlı olarak ön soğutma, havayla, suyla ve vakumla olmak üzere temelde üç ayrı yöntemle yapılabilmektedir. Bu çalışmada, ön soğutma yöntemleri süs bitkilerine uygunlukları bakımından detaylı bir şekilde tartışılmıştır.

The intended outcome of this research is to comparatively assess the farm systems in two indigenous territories of Putumayo (Colombia): San Félix (1° 10' 34.67" N and 76° 55' 04.33" W), and Tamabioy (1° 10' 24.36" N and 76° 56' 55.54" W). Both of these territories are located at an altitude of between 2.000 and 2.150 metres above sea level, and have an average temperature of 15°C. The methods we used to obtain our primary information were a census and interviews. In both the census and interviews, it was neccesary for participants to answer a survey that contained open and closed questions. Through these surveys, we found that 33 out of the 55 families in the Tamabioy indigenous territory, and 54 out of the 70 families in the San Félix indigenous territory, have agrarian activity as their main economic activity for income. For the Tamabioy terroritory, 33 families represents 49.5% of the total population, and in San Félix, 54 families represents 49% of the total population. In both territories, there are three types of agrarian systems: traditional, market, and mix. The traditional system has the home garden as main agrarian system; the market system has the corn/bean relay and dairy as the main systems; finally, the mix is a combination between traditional and market systems. Other economic activities &nin the territories are farm and home services, handicrafts, and agro-businesses. The market of agrarian outputs in the Tamabioy territory is more efficient than the San Félix territory because it's located close to the head municipalities of San Francisco and Sibundoy. Thus, this research will show that the market and mix systems have easily entered the territory and consequently the home gardens have lost importance. | En el estudio se caracterizaron y analizaron de manera comparativa los sistemas de producción agraria en los resguardos San Félix (1° 10' 34.67" N y 76° 55' 04.33" O) y Tamabioy (1° 10' 24.36" N y 76° 56' 55.54" O) del departamento del Putumayo, Colombia, localizados entre los 2.000 y 2.150 m.s.n.m., con una temperatura promedio de 15 °C. La información de fuente primaria preliminar se recopiló directamente en las zonas de estudio mediante la realización de censos en ambos resguardos, seguidos de entrevistas con algunas familias de las fincas-hogar. En ambos casos se utilizó un cuestionario estructurado con preguntas cerradas y abiertas. En el resguardo Tamabioy se encontraron 55 familias y en San Félix 70, de las cuales 33 (49.5 %) y 54 (49 %), respectivamente, derivan sus ingresos de la actividad agropecuaria. En ambos resguardos se hallaron los sistemas agrarios: tradicional, comercial y de transición. El primero es el huerto casero; el segundo lo constituyen el cultivo de maíz en rotación con fríjol, la ganadería y la producción de pasturas; y el tercero la combinación de sistema tradicional más comercial. Otras actividades económicas presentes son los servicios, la artesanía y la agroindustria. La comercialización de los productos agrarios en Tamabioy es más eficiente que en San Félix, debido a la cercanía con las cabeceras municipales, en consecuencia los sistemas comerciales y de transición han entrado con mayor facilidad a la dinámica económica y, por ende, los huertos caseros han perdido importancia.

Parametric approaches in statistical analysis assume that any given data are normally distributed. Therefore, the test of whether this conventional assumption is valid should be made in this context of the available data’s normality before being passed to the application of statistical tests. The paper is focused on the normality methodologies commonly used in literature, named Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Jarque-Bera, D’agostino, Anderson Darling, Shapiro-Wilk and Ryan Joiner. In the study, the seasonal maximum data from eight streamflow gauging stations in Yesilirmak Basin was used as material. The normality in the 59% of the whole data sets were obtained as the highest result by the Kolmogorov –Smirnov approach, when compared to the other normality tests considered in the study.

The role of university partners in the innovation adoption process in the implementation of agricultural extension is very necessary to get attention to realize the success of empowering rice seed farmers. The purpose of this research is (1) to know the role of universities in the process of adopting innovation in IPB 3S seedling in Aceh Province, (2) to know the perception of farmers toward the characteristics of the innovation of IPB 3S varieties, and (3) to know the role of universities in the implementation process of extension agriculture to rice seed farmers. This research uses qualitative descriptive approach with data measurement using Likert scale. The results showed that in general the universities play significant role in innovation adoption process to rice seed farmers. The role is arranged by sequence; (1) implementing cultivation skill (2) strengthening farmer institution, (3) liaison with the government (4) guidance of transfer of technology, and (5) liaison with production market. Farmers perception on the characteristics of innovation optimum production technology package (IPB-Prima) IPB 3S (1) has a relative profitability, (2) easy to try, (3) conformity, (4) observable, and (5) innovation subtly level. The role of partners in the implementation of agricultural extension in sequence (1) conformity of extension materials, (2) intensity of extension, (3) appropriateness of extension method and (4) accuracy of media usage. The university should pay attention on the mechanism of facilitating technology transfer with the use of media and appropriate extension methods to rice seed farmers. The university also should build good communication with private organizations to help farmers in terms of seed price certainty produced by rice seed farmers in Aceh Province, Indonesia.

Pheasant rearing is rated in three main categories: show and hobby, public interest, and stocking for game birds and edible purposes. The goal of this pheasant breeding station is to put stocking for game birds in their natural habitat, mainly in the Karadeniz region. Contribution to the issues related to incubation in this station and determination of effective reproduction age by setting production period. The aim of this study is to determine how significant performance criteria like egg production, fertility, hatchability and embryonic mortality are, depending on age and on seasonal changes. Our research has been carried out at the Gelemen Pheasant Breeding Station in Samsun. The pheasant breeds that are used on the farm are made up of 114 male and 800 female pheasants (1♂:7♀), of Hungarian and Caucasian genotypes. During the egg-laying period, which lasts for 16 weeks from the end of March (at the age of 45 weeks) to the middle of July (at the age of 60 weeks), egg production was recorded daily and evaluated once a week, and incubation yield was recorded nine times in total. Differences between weeks of age, in terms of egg production, egg and chick weights, fertility rate, incubation yield and embryonic mortality, have been found to be statistically significant. However, hatchability has been found to be statistically insignificant.

Bu çalışmada, Türkiye’nin Adana ili Çukurova Üniversitesi kampüsünden toplanan Suillus collinitus (Fr.)’un aroma bileşenleri Tepe Boşluğu Katı Faz Mikro Ekstraksiyon Gaz Kromatografisi Kütle Spektrofotometresi (Headspace Solid-Phase Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry, HS/SPME/GC/MS) tekniği ile ve 40 ve 70°C olmak üzere iki farklı ekstraksiyon sıcaklık uygulamalarının denenmesi ile belirlenmiştir. Aroma çalışmalarından önce, toplanan mantar örnekleri morfotaksonomik karakterizasyonun yanı sıra, ITS rDNA gen bölgesinin dizi analizleri ile moleküler olarak da tanımlanmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda; 1-octen-3-ol, 3-hexen-1-ol, 2-octene, xylene, butylacetate ve benzaldehyde ana bileşenleri, 40 ve 70°C sıcaklıklarda sırasıyla %75,71-%83,14, %5,59-%6,14, %3,64-%3,99, %3,21-3.53, %2,69-%2,96, %2,36-%2,59 oranlarında tespit edilmiştir. Farklı ekstraksiyon sıcaklıkları denemelerinde ise, 40°C’de 19 bileşik belirlenirken, 70°C’de 16 aromatik bileşik tespit edilmiştir.

Organik olarak üretilen tavuk yumurtasının daha fazla besleyicilik ve duyusal özelliklere sahip olmasının yanı sıra sağlığa zararlı herhangi bir madde içermemesi, tüketicinin öncelikli beklentilerindendir. Araştırmalar, beklenenin aksine; kafes yumurtaları ile organik yumurtaların kuru madde, lipit ve yağ asitleri arasında önemli bir farklılık bulunmadığını göstermektedir. Organik yumurtanın kafes yumurtasına göre yaklaşık iki kat fiyata satılmasının sadece psikolojik ve etik motivasyon taşıdığı bildirilmektedir. Avrupa Birliği Konseyi organik yumurta üretiminde tavukların bazal rasyonun yanı sıra yeşil kaba yem materyallerine erişimini de gerekli görmektedir. Ancak bu erişimin sağlanması durumunda, organik olarak üretilen yumurta tüketici beklentilerine karşılık verebilir. Araştırmalar ülkemiz Organik Tarım Kanuna göre tavuk başına ayrılan 4 m2’lik gezinti alanının bu talepleri karşılamada yeterli olmadığını göstermektedir. Bu durum tavuklara ayrılan gezinti alanının çeşitli yem bitkileri ile rotasyona uygun olarak ekili olmasını sağlayacak şekilde artırılmasını veya gezinti alanına dışarıdan ilave yeşil kaba yem materyallerinin getirilmesini zorunlu kılmaktadır. Böylece fonksiyonel gıda özelliği olan bir ürün elde etmenin yanı sıra gagalama ve kanibalizmin azalarak hayvan refahının arttığı bir üretim tarzına ulaşılmış olacaktır. Bu derlemede organik yumurta üretiminde başta karotenoidler olmak üzere yağ asitleri gibi kimyasal içeriklerin artırılması ile renk, koku ve tat gibi duyusal özelliklerin iyileştirilme olanaklarına yönelik uygulamalara yer verilmiştir.

The aim of this study is to determine the functionality period of pistillate and staminate flower types and the pollen viability and normally developed pollen rates with pollen production in staminate flowers of monoecious pecan nut cultivars in Adana ecological conditions. In the study, 11 pecan nut cultivars named as Coctaw, Comanche, Harris Super, Hastings, Ideal, Mahan, Royal, Shawnee, Texhan, Western and Wichita were used. Flowering periods of evaluated cultivars were determined as homogamous, protandrous, partially protandrous and partially protogynous. The flowering dates occur between 3rd-20th May in 2016 and 30th April-18th May in 2017. The pollen viability rates were found to be quite high in all cultivars, but in 2017 the rates were lower than 2016. The lowest pollen viability rates were obtained from Hastings in 2016 and 2017 (60.0% and 61.6%) respectively and the highest rates were in Shawnee (89.1%) at 2016 and in Mahan (87.7%) at 2017. Normally developed pollen rates were adequate for all cultivars and the rates were differed between 92.30% and 98.42% in 2016, and 90.20% 97.24% in 2017. The differences between cultivars in terms of pollen production were significantly important. The pollen number in one catkin was found between 3.512.382 and 11.097.407 at 2016 and 6.101.233 and 14.958.453 at 2017.

Nanoteknolojik yöntemlerle nano boyuta indirgenen metal partiküller temelde biyomedikal ve fizikokimya olmak üzere eczacılık, elektrik-elektronik, otomotiv sanayi, gıda sanayi gibi pek çok farklı alanda karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Fiziksel, kimyasal ve biyolojik olmak üzere üç farklı üretim yöntemi bulunan nanopartiküller ağırlıklı olarak kimyasal yöntemlerle üretilmektedir. Ancak fiziksel ve kimyasal yöntemler yüksek sıcaklık, yüksek basınç ve toksik kimyasalların kullanımını gerektirdiği için çevre dostu ve ekonomik değildir. Bu nedenle yeşil teknoloji olarak da adlandırılan, çevre dostu ve sürdürülebilir bir yaklaşım olan biyolojik yöntemlerle metal nanopartiküllerin üretimine olan ilgi son yıllarda artmıştır. Bazı bitki ekstraktlarıyla ve mikroorganizmaların hücre içi ve hücre dışı salgılarıyla birtakım indirgenme reaksiyonları gerçekleşmekte ve metal nanopartikülleri üretilmektedir. Bakteriler doğadaki çeşitlilikleri, kolay izole edilebilir olmaları ve nanopartikül üretimindeki kolaylıkları sebebiyle son yıllarda etkin birer nano fabrika görevi görmektedirler. Bu makalede, metal nanopartiküllerin bakteriyel yöntemlerle üretimleri ve uygulama alanları derlenmiştir.

The physical and chemical characteristics oven dried millet flour from dehulled millet soaked in different media was studied. Depigmented oven dried dehulled millet flour was produced by soaking dehulled millet in different solutions; water, 1% NaCl, 1% Na2CO3, and 1% citric acid. All samples were soaked in their respective solution for 12h, dried in the oven at 60oC for 6h then milled into flour and sieved through 710µm mesh size. The physical properties of oven dried dehulled millet; colour had L* (whiteness value), a* (redness values), and b* (yellowness values) that differed significantly ranging from 66.74 to 84.21, 0.85 to 1.43, and 6.89 to 12.69 respectively. The minimum, mean and maximum particle size distributions of samples ranged from 9.53 to 23.41µm, 29.09 to 50.15µm and 59.46 to 176.01 µm respectively. Starch granules in micrographs of oven dried depigmented millet flours were irregular, compact and polygonally shaped. Gelatinization properties of oven dried millet flour; the onset temperature (To), peak temperature (Tp), end set temperature (Te) and enthalpy varied significantly ranging from 70.15 to 97.65 o C, 79.48 to 102.31 o C, 83.30 to 104.96 o C, and 6.70 to 28.41 (J/g) respectively. Chemical properties comprising of moisture, fats, ash, protein, crude fiber, pH, total titratable acidity, pH of soak solution, phytates and tannins varied significantly ranging from 10.19 to 10.88%, 4.27 to 4.61%, 0.71 to 1.19%, 7.25 to 8.67%, 1.00 to 1.08%, 4.35 to 8.45, 0.001 to 0.084%, 3.32 to 9.93, 0.60 to 0.62, 1.84 to 6.45mg/g and 3.06 to 6.68 mg/g respectively. Depigmenting dehulled millet by soaking in 1% Na2CO3 impaired the colour of sample ODMF2 while depigmenting dehulled millet grains by soaking in 1% citric acid solution for 12 h improved colour of sample ODMF1.
