Many lettuce cultivars (Lactuca sativa L.) with high resistance to lettuce root aphid (Pemphigus bursarius L.) also carried the gene Dm-6 for specific resistance to downy mildew (Bremia lactucae REGEL). This suggests the possibility of linkage between this gene and root aphid resistance. The origin of this association is discussed
