Saefuddin, Y.
Subang and Indramayu Districts West Java were selected for the survey because of the extent of rice production and the presence of a significant number of tractors. Initial results indicate that the villages are homogenous with almost all of the land irrigated and growing modern rice varieties. By mechanization category, minor differences only were found for social characteristics and rice yield. The major differences between groups were that mechanized farms are much larger and include a higher percentage of owner occupied land than the non-mechanized farm.
