Movement and distribution of water and salts in stratified soil columns (in Iraq)
1984
Al-Asadi, R.H.A.
This investigation was conducted to study the effects of texture, thickness and position of each soil layer on water and salt movement and their distribution throughout prepared homogenous and stratified soil columns plus naturally stratified soil profiles. One result of the study was the rate of water movement by capillarity in uniformly textured soils. At the first time interval it was higher in the sandy soil, and at the end the capillary water was highest in the clay soil. The moisture content was reduced with an increase in distance from water table. The soil texture of the columns affected the accumulation and distribution of salts, especially in the upper layers
