Effects of the light condition of root zone and the types of hydroponics on the growth and certain quality of radish and lettuce

The growth of radish (Raphanus sativus var. radicula) was not influenced by the color of container (red, yellow, blue, black, transparent) in aeroponics. The treatment of different light sources (red, yellow, blue, incandescent) on the root had no effect on the growth and several quality components of radish and lettuce (Lactuca sativa var. crispa). Growth of radish was greatest in NFT (nutrient film technique), followed by water culture, sack culture, and sand culture, but the thiocyanate ion content of root showed opposite effects. Nitrate ion content in radish root was not effected with the different types of hydroponics
